Default need advice- possibly taking off 2 weeks between stage 6 and 7

I thought I was going to finish Stage 6, go on vacation and rest for a week, then start Stage 7. Now I am going to have to go out of town to work for 10 days instead of the vacation. The hotel I stay at does have a gym, but I'm not sure it has all the equipment I would need for Stage 7. I'm also not sure if I'd have time for the Stage 7 workouts while I'm in the middle of trial. Would it be too bad to take two weeks off? Or should I try to do some other shorter workout while I'm away? Or do my best with Stage 7?

I don't think it would be a bad thing to take 2 weeks off but thats just me. I know others will probably say you need to start from Stage 1 but that doens't make sense. Muscles takes about 2 months to start decreasing so starting back in 2 weeks shouldn't be a bad thing. I don't think shorter works outs would be a bad thing either since they're not really compromising the original workouts.

Take the time. Whatever. A week (or 2) is not the end of the world.

If she's finishing up Stage 6 I don't think anyone here would suggest she go back to Stage 1. Why would anyone say that?

Anyway, two weeks is fine, you'll probably be stronger for it.

Same here. I'm finishing up Stage 7 just in time for a two week cruise to Hawaii. I plan to get in some workouts and interval training on the ship (lots of days at sea). Question: When I return I plan to start the NROL4W over and pick it up at Stage 2. Is that what you would do?

Hiya Outofcontrol,

The purpose of the Stage needs to be taken into consideration. Stage 7 is called the final cut. It's purpose is fat loss. Is fat loss a goal for you? If yes I would say do Stage 7 when you get back. If fat loss isn't your goal then don't even bother doing Stage 7.

What is your goal? If your goal is general fitness then sure, go ahead and do NROL4W again. I personally would start from the beginning (Stage 1) if I was going to do again.

I would also suggest checking out the original New Rules of Lifting. It's allows/teaches you to put together your own program based on your goals. Strength? Size? Fat Loss? etc. I think it says there's enough there to do you for a year!

I am debating whether I will do that or Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe.

I love the big compound movements and all 3 programs use them.

Anyways, enjoy your vacation!

My goal is to lose a little bit of fat, so I will definitely do Stage 7 after the break. After that, I am ready to move on to a different program. I've already been checking a few things out. I get excited about every program I read about, so I just keep addding them to my list. I won't run out of things to do for a long time.
