Newbie here - 10 pound weight gain?
Hi everyone,
This is my first post. I've had some issues with weight gain while starting NROL, but first here's some background on my situation:
In high school and college, I was an average weight, although leaning toward the higher end. By the time I graduated college, I was 138 pounds, my clothes were starting to get a bit tight, and I was very unhappy with my body. I decided to cut down on snacking (I was already doing some cardio) and by the end of the summer I was down to 120 pounds and a size 4/6 (down from a size 8/10). I've been able to maintain that weight since then, and a few years ago I added weight training to the mix.
I'm 29 now, and 5'6, and for the last 8 years, my weight has stayed pretty much around 120, give or take a few pounds. I weigh myself once or twice a week.
A few months ago, I decided to try NROL because I felt like I was in a rut with my current weight training, and hadn't seen much progress. I've just completed stage 1 this week. (I decided to do each part of the stage 3 times instead of just 2, so it took me several weeks.)
Now onto the current part of my story. A month ago I had a doctor's appointment, and when they weighed me I was 120 - I've found that my doctor's scale is usually in agreement with my scale at home. About a week and a half after the appointment, July 26th, I decided to weigh myself at home. The scale showed 132 pounds.
My first reaction was that there was something wrong with the scale. I asked my husband to weigh himself (he's a lot bigger than I am, so presumably any problems with the scale being "off" would be more noticeable on his weight). It showed him to be the same weight as always.
Now I admit that in the week leading up to the 26th I was probably eating more than I should have. I had gone out for drinks with some friends after work and we ended up eating at the bar too. I had been to a party at my aunt's house, and there was so much good food there that I might have overdone it. However, I don't think that I ate enough extra food to create a 12 pound weight gain in such a short amount of time. Plus, there have been other times over the past 8 years when I've had a "naughty" week of snacking, and during all these years I don't think my weight has ever been over 125.
And as much as I'd love to think that the 12 pounds are muscle gain, I know that just isn't possible. All of my clothes seem to fit still, but just the same I've stepped up the cardio, cut down on snacks, and started drinking a lot more water. (Last Saturday the scale showed me at 126.) Can anyone offer any explanations?
