Default Deadlifts vs Barbell Deadlifts

Hi,

I just finished my fourth workout in stage 1 and I think I may be doing the deadlifts incorrectly. The deadlifts in stage 1 workout B reference page 164 as do barbell deadlifts mentioned in one of the later stages.

Obviously the barbell deadlifts should be done with a barbell (olympic), my question is what are the regular deadlifts to be done with?

Thus, far I have been doing them with the olympic barbell, but I think this may be incorrect. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well, you have conventional deadlifts that are done with a bar (normally) and you have Romanian deadlifts, also usually done with a bar, though not always.

When you say "regular" deads, do you really mean conventional deads? If so, use a bar.

If you are unsure of form, check out this thread.

I am referring to the deadlifts mentioned in stage 1 workout B. However, stage 7 workout 3 (pg 155) references a barbell deadlift. Both exercises refer the reader to page 164, so I am unclear of the difference between the deadlift in stage 1 and the barbell deadlift in stage 7.

Thanks for the link, regardless. It never occurred to me to elevate the bar off the ground until I work up to the big girl weights!!

they're the same, it just wasn't clarified as "barbell" in the beginning...
maybe a mistake, maybe just that in stage 1 they're not sure if the lifter could use the bar... in which case one would use the dumbbells or something else. By the time stage 7 comes along, 45 pounds ain't nuthin, and they can specify bar.
