Default Step up question...

How high is our step supposed to be? I've heard that it's supposed to be about knee hieght. Or how many risers do we put under the step?

TIA!!

I don't think there are any absolute rules. I have an adjustable step that I use at it's top setting, but it still doesn't reach my knee. The box in the picture in the book does not come up to her knee either. But if you have a higher box or more risers and you need to make the exercise more difficult, that's one way to do it. My step is challenging enough for me right now.

The higher the step/bench the more challenging it will be just to lift your bodyweight. With a lower step you will be able to use more added a weight. If doing it on a bench, which on me comes to just below my knee and is approx. 14 or 15 inches high, try doing it with bodyweight only first and see how you feel. With a step, which is usually half the the height of a bench and around 6 or 7 inches high, you will need to be holding the added weight of dumbells for it to be a challenge.

You've probably already figured this out from the other threads. : )
