Default Preworkout meal

Hi everyone- I am looking for suggestions for a good, but light whole food pre-workout meal (no powders). If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

I have a banana with 1 tsp peanut butter pre-workout. Does the job and really motivates me to get out of bed because it is so good! I just read somewhere that a better combination would be a small banana with a glass of milk.

before running I have 6 ounces of martinelli's unfiltered apple juice.

before any of alwyn cosgrove's workouts (ie NROLW), this is totally inadequate, so I make a proteini:

one 4 oz carton of eggbeaters
fill 4 oz eggbeater carton with martinelli's apple juice
about a cup or so frozen mango chuncks
a few frozen pineapple chunks
a few large frozen strawberries

blend in my vitamix and serve in a large martini glass. I drink it an hour or so before my early morning workout, and sip ICE (branched chain amino acids) mixed with green tea during.

after I drink an Acheivone protein coffee drink (20 g whey isolate).

I started reading that and thought you had written you have 6 ounces of martinis... then kept going & realized i had mis-read. I was really impressed/perplexed there for a second.

I like "easy" and quick, so I have a nutrigrain waffle with PB on it. Often eaten while running out the door and/or driving to the gym... Maybe not the best option, but better than not eating before an early workout.

I like an apple with peanut butter. If I'm pressed for time, I'll grab a protein bar (recipe in NROL4W). I make extras, just for these situations.
If I'm working out late evening, sometimes I'll opt for a small dinner--salad with chicken breast.

I have either a South Beach protein bar, an apple, or yogurt with wheat germ. I suppose the south beach bars aren't "clean", but they have 13g of protein and only 130 calories. I LOVE them, especially the peanut butter ones. I figure I'll try the protein bar recipe from the NROL4W soon...

I do this too, sometimes, or half a 100 calorie english muffin. Sometimes with PB sometimes with 1/3 less fat cream cheese and fruit juice sweetened only jam.
I usually eat a 0% fage with 1 tbsp. of sliced almonds and 1 tbsp. of honey. If I'm low on calories that day (I usually workout in the evening) then I add 1 tbsp of dried cherries.
For workouts in the a.m. I make a coffee protein drink with 4oz of coffee (caffeinated please), 8 oz of milk and 2 scoops of protein powder. I have 4oz of the drink and a banana before and then I polish off the rest after the w/o. Then I usually have a 1/4 c. of nuts at my desk when I get to work.

I want to make some protein bars for beforehand in a pinch, but read it's better to use a powder with casein in it, so I ordered a special blend from trueprotein today. It's shipped already, so I think I'll wait until that gets here to make anything.

I prefer powders as it digests faster and I dont get stomach cramps. So I have 1/2oz cashews, 2 scoops American Whey and 4 frozen strawberries with cofee and milk. YUM!

On the weekends, I just eat breakfast before I go. During the week, I workout after work so I usually have a latte or a rice cake with light cheese or salmon.
