Default Need Some Advice

Hi All,

I just joined the forum and recently purchased the NROLW. A little background on me. I recently was diagnosed with a stress fracture in my foot. I can walk on it and the dr told me to avoid activities that make it hurt. Kind of vague. Well, I'm pretty passionate about my fitness and I'm having a very hard time toning down my routine. Prior to the injury I was working out (cycling mostly and weights) 7 days a week 1 - 2 hours a day. I know it sounds really insane, which is part of the reason why I ended up injured.

So, here I am. I have a good fitness base to start from, but I really need to minimize the pressure on my foot. This means that cardio is extremely limited. I thought it would be a great time to focus more on my strength.

I did my first stage one workout today. It only took me about 25 minutes. Is that right? I just did workout A and the 2 sets of 15 reps on the listed exercises. Are you supposed to repeat the circuit? I'm worried about gaining fat going from such an active lifestyle to the NROLW workouts. I'm willing to give it my all though.

Ok, I will stop rambling. Basically, I want to make sure I'm doing the workouts right and if anyone has suggestions for modifications on exercises that would put a lot of stress on my foot, I wouldn't be interested in that too.

Thanks in advance!
Kim

Yes, that is about right. You will go up to 3 sets in a bit. You should select weight that makes it challenging. So if you didn't think it was very challenging then use heavier weight next time.

Frogguruami is right on with her reply - if it wasn't very difficult, make sure your weights are heavy enough, and also be sure you're only taking 60 seconds between sets. It can be VERY challenging, even for a relatively experienced lifter who was used to doing a lot more (like I was)...

It's GREAT to get out in 30 minutes and have more free time! Wish that was true of the stages that come after...

25 mins for the first few seems right. I remember being surprised that I was out that quickly, too. But as the weights go up, the reps come down, and the sets go up, the total time of the workouts gets longer.
