Default Just did the BodPod

After seeing the Bod Pod mentioned in the forum, I did a search and found one here in Minneapolis. Since I finished Stage 3 last week I thought this would be a good time to try it. I've gotten measured at the gym with calipers before, but the results vary so widely that I don't trust the numbers. Today I was at 131 pounds (I'm 5'5") and 19.2% body fat. I was really happy with that, because when I was in graduate school 10 years ago, I was also at 19% but only weighed 120 pounds. I guess all this hard work is paying off! Just thought I'd share. I'm looking forward to Stage 4, which I'll start on Sunday.

I'm headed to see a friend of mine the last week of May, and she's very close to where they are. If I can convince myself that it's something I want to know I'll probably get it done at that time.

How close was the bod pod to your caliper readings? Or were the calipers too varied to really compare?

I didn't feel claustrophobic at all. The test was run three times, about 45 seconds for each. I assume they take the average of that. In between test runs, the door is opened. There's a blue 'panic' button on the inside if you need it!

Actually today the lady did the calipers as well, and she said that measurement was within 2% of the Bod Pod reading. I don't know what the actual number was for the calipers, though. Other times I've had the calipers done at the gym it's been anywhere from 19% to 28%. I don't know if it's the actual measurement or the formula used that causes the variation.
