Hah susan I LOVE your playlist! Great songs :-)
As for me... I'm boring... I don't really make playlists... I just listen to a CD on my Ipod... usually hard-ish stuff because I tend to use it as basically "motivating noise", and to tune everyone else in the gym out... not to listen to words and stuff. So I stick to basically Slipknot and Godsmack. Though when I'm feeling girly I tune it to Beyonce's B-day CD (i LOVE that CD!)
Oh, I adore David Bowie! I have quite a few Bowie songs on my workout mix. I also have:
- The Specials
- No Doubt
- B-52s
- Adam Ant
- Arctic Monkeys
- The Fratellis (great for cardio)
- Ok Go
- The Strokes
- Joan Jett
- The Hives
I can list songs too, but these are the artists I listen to the most for working out. I really, really hate endless techno songs for working out; I need songs with a finite end, songs I really like that keep me happy. I highly recommend the B-52s for happy workouts!
I love it! I listen to John Denver while I'm doing yoga, but that one gets my toe-tapping when I should be still. Obviously I need to move it over to my weight-lifting music.
The last few times I've been listening to Men Without Hats and OMD while doing my NROLFW workouts. Do I date myself by admitting that?

I'm liking your style! Some I haven't heard of but I WILL be checking out.
Thanks for some new ideas, y'all.
As I suspected, I'm gonna be buying music now. So much for new running tops!

I have several of the same artists, but different tunes on my faves:
I have Saliva "Always" and "Ladies & Gentleman";
The Doves "Caught by the River" (amazing to run to),
the Bravery's "Honest Mistake" for intense cardio.
Goldfrapp "Ooh La La" is awesome, so after your recommendation, I listened to and got "Train".
Yes, I, too, am a workout music junky.
And, we haven't even gotten into the REALLY hard stuff yet!

I usually keep my ipod on shuffle. One of my favorite albums to work out to is Timbaland's Shock Value. Also, Madonna's new song '4 Minutes' is pretty good too. I like that for BW matrix.
Ohhhh LOVE LOVE "4 Minutes"!!!! good call on that and Timbaland!!!
Also really like "Stronger" by Kanye West...not a big fan of Kanye, but that song is just something I do stairs to!!! Makes me feel strong anyway???? haha
Let me pull out my ipod and find some favs to post....I have a good play list I put together just for cardio. If you look them up and they have "explicit"--I always choose the "clean" tab on itunes....so just look for that in case you don't like to hear the curse words either.
So, here is a playlist of mine....I will put "techno" for those that dispise
I don't like trance/techno either but these passed my test for not being TOO annoying!
9PM (Till I come club mix- techo-ish)
Paramore- Misery Business and Crush Crush Crush
Rihanna- "Breakin' Dishes" and "Shut up and Drive" and "Don't stop the music"
The Kill- 30 seconds to....
The Red Jumpsuit- Face Down
Above and Beyond- Can't sleep Signum Remix- Techno
Tunnel Alliance- Sandstorm (techno) but fun to run to!!!
Fall out Boy- Dance, Dance and Thanks for the Memories (again, I got Lenny B Short Term Memory mix)
Pink- "Who Knew" (The Bimbo Jones Radio Edit but techno-ish) and "Trouble"
Cascada- "Miracle" (very techno)
Hellogoodbye- "Here in your arms" I got the club mix but there are others
Kat DeLuna- Whine up (I got a mix but there are others)
Britney Spears- Piece of Me (check out the Boz o lo Remix too though, it's more upbeat)
Muse- Supermassive Black Hole
Janet Jackson- Feedback
Finger Eleven- Paralyzer
Daughtry- Over You
didn't notice how much techno I have on here until now....haha
I also have a good cooldown playlist....in case anyone wants to share those? I like that stuff too once my ears are hurting from the techno! ha!
Leona Lewis- Bleeding Love
Mandy Moore- Gardenia (found this by accident on some soundtrack to a movie?)
The Sundays- Wild Horses
Sade- By Your Side
Sara Bareilles- One Sweet Love
Norah Jones- Sunrise
Lindsay McCaul- Let Go
Kari Kimmel- Fallen Awake, Dreamer, and Notice Me
Anna Nalick- Breathe (2am)
I have a very weird mix on my mp3 -- everything from ABBA to Eminem ...
Some of my faves (and yes, I'm a total dweeb) LOL!
Spice Girls - Wannabe
John Fogerty - Centerfield - I can't help but smile every time I hear this
Ok Go - Here it goes again (LOVE their video on the treadmills too!)
Barenaked Ladies - I love anything they do, and some are very upbeat (One Week, It's All Been Done, Life in a Nutshell, etc etc)
B52's - their new album (Funplex) is good, plenty of classics too (Roam, Love Shack, Rock Lobster)
Liz Phair - Extraordinary
Vampire Weekend
Lily Allen
Adam Ant
any classic 80's new wave, especially Duran Duran, Tears for Fears (their 1st album), old U2 (Joshua Tree or earlier), Alphaville, Thomas Dolby
Pearl Jam - Jeremy
The Fratellis (I think someone else mentioned them already?)
Black Eyed Peas - almost anything
Christina Aguilera - Candyman, Lady Marmalade
Gwen Stefani
Justin Timberlake - Sexyback
Greg Kihn - Breakup Song
Rick Springfield
Lady Sovereign - Love me or Hate me
The Police
For Cooldown (good idea Nik)
Norah Jones
Indigo Girls
any slower BNL
She & Him
Juno soundtrack
Amy Winehouse
Colby Callait - she's AMAZING if you haven't heard her
Scrubs soundtrack, especially Colin Hay (or get his own CD - he's fabulous)
Paul McCartney - anything
Suzanne Vega
Favourites on the current playlist - I've got a weird mix as well
Honest mistake - the bravery
dont hold back - the potbelliez
stronger - kanye west
low - flo rida
blackeyed peas - pump it
bob sinclair - rock this party
yves larock - rise up
safri duo - played a live
piece of me - britney
datarock - fafa fa
freestylers - in love with you
ricki lee - cant touch it
fallout boy - dance dance and this aint a scene
Holy cow, I don't recognize 99.99% of those names! I know John Denver and Dan Fogerty. Other than that, I'm lost and clearly behind the times. LOL
I have a huge selection I draw from for my workouts and my musical mood varies so much. Everything from classical to Motown to country to jazz... Lately, I've been on a big Harry Connick, Jr. kick -- I listen to this entire "Oh My NOLA" CD over and over. Oh, my favorite for the bodyweight matrix is Clay Walker's "Mexico". The Temptations and Otis Redding are always at the top of my list for just about anything. I do like some metal as well, my current favorite being Iron Maiden.
I keep my ipod on "shuffle" and find that I am skipping around unless the shuffle lands on:
Arcade Fire
Smashing Pumpkins
DMB
STP
Incubus
David Bowie
Muse
Silversun Pickups
I like your list! You might like Arctic Monkeys if you don't already have their CD (I think they only have 1...).
I keep forgetting to add/change music on my mp3 player so for the past 2 months or so, I've been working out to
- Foo Fighters (latest album)
- Muse
- Shiny Toy Guns
- Franz Ferdinand
- added Arctic Monkeys about a month ago
... i think i'm going to add different music right now....

We definitely have the same taste! I also have Foo Fighters, Franz Ferdinand, and Shiny Toy Guns. I know there is something I heard from Arctic Monkeys that I liked, so I'll be sure to download them, too!
Outkast's B.O.B. (Bombs Over Baghdad) is awesome. I also like Kanye West's "Stronger" and Black Eyed Peas' "Pump it"
All 3 are on my "XL Run" playlist, the one I over-used when training for my half-marathon.
So are:
"Doraville", Atalnta Rhythm Section
"E-Pro", "Girl" & "Timebomb", Beck
"Crazy Bitch", "Everything" & "Porno Star", Buck Cherry
"Rockin Rock Radar", D.A.D.
"Lose Yourself", Eminem
"Thanks for the Memories", Fall Out Boy
"Everlong" & "Thanks for the Memories", Foo Fighters
"Animals" & "Rock Star", Nickleback
"Gotta Have You", Weepies
so many more.
Running SS for distance requires a certain BPM and lyrics I can mouth breathe!
HIIT, well, that's a different BPM altogether.
You know how you can add a "ratings" column in your iTunes library? I use the stars there to rate my songs according to workout.
1's are for cooldown, mellow, thoughtful
2's are resistance, steady, pumping beat - sometimes ANGRY.
3's are incline or walking pace (125 - 135 bpm)
4's are SS cardio (140 - 160 BPM for me)
5's are HIIT ('road-runner legs' BPM)
I'll alternate 5's with 3's on my HIIT playlists, so I can just advance when the interval is done.

What I have been listening to. I don't really have a set list for lifting/cardio. But, when I am on the last bit of cardio on the step mill I am am extremely picky as to what song gets to continue to play. At that point, it is either some angry music (Seether, Chevelle, NIN, etc) or any song with lots of F bombs.
Mickey Avalon - Jane Fonda (this is a great song that Lori turned me on to and it makes me giggle, plus it's got a great beat.)
Foo Fighters - Best of You
4 minutes - Justin and Madonna
Damn Girl - Justin Timberlake
Elevator - Timbaland and someone else
Back that a$$ up - Ice Cube
Good Life - Kanye West
Some oldies but goodies that keep me going
DMX, Missy Elliott, Eminem
I'm sure I have more, but this what I can think of right now without having it in front of me.

Jane and DirtyMartini,
What songs by Shiny Toy Guns do you ladies like? I have one of their songs and it borders on slow for me, but I like the beat. I'd like to try some others of theirs.
