My first set was 2min 32 sec and my second set was 2 min 9 sec. Don't know how I increased speed second time, maybe just got more comfortable with the exercises. Can I just say how much I loathe lunge jumps though. If I go all the way down, I don't get much air, hopefully this will improve.
I second that LittleMermaid, I did mine about 3.5 mins too (first set time). Thats incredible endurance at 2.5 mins, BlueFever! Just thinking about the body matrix makes my tights cramp up to lead. Thats some motivation for me to do it faster! By the time I'm on the squat jumps its roaring, sheer willpower to make those legs MOVE.
First time was 3:55 and I was having a really bad day and a headache. Time got increasingly lower to 2:26 as I got more comfortable with the exercises. I'd say the average time was 2:45. (Most of the time was taken up keeping balance with hands behind head on the lunge jumps.)
The first time I did the bodyweight matrix it took me over 5 minutes! I tried to go all the way down on squats and lunges, even the for the jumps, and I had to stop frequently in order to prevent my having a heart attack. Sadly, my jumps never left the floor. I had to take a nap that afternoon, too.
But it was fun trying to improve my time. Twice I tried to do the BWM for endurance rather than form (quarter squats and lunges), and I got it down to 3 min, 30 seconds.
My best "good form" (deep squats, deep lunges) time was about 4 min, 30 seconds, but I didn't have a chance to improve my jump lunges beyond these little scissor things.
I could never keep my hands behind my head during the whole series, either. It's definitely harder doing it that way, I don't know why.
Based on Lou's latest blog post, I'd say we have good motivation to speed it up and do it was fast as we can without cheating. Seriously though, the body matrix is one of the most draining, evil, and torturous thing I have imposed on myself. I force myself to jump and if I don't get my legs off the floor I would add another rep. The hardest thing is keeping my hands behind my head--I would catch myself resting my hand on my thigh trying to get it up.

It feels great afterwards though!
Ok , well I am definatly not doing them properly then. Next time I will keep my hands behind my head. I'm am sure that will tack on a few minutes easily!
My fastest time is 3m22s. Totally kicks my ass (which is the point, I guess). My first one was over a minute longer, so I am improving - AND I was able to complete my 2nd set today, workout A3. So I'm definitely seeing some measurable improvement which is all I'm after.

I did it for the first time today and I have one question:
Alwyn, how do you sleep at night?
Holy CRAP. The first set I did in 2:09, but only because I thought I was supposed to do 12 squat jumps. Ha. The second set was 2:45, but I don't think I was doing the lunge jumps properly. I need to work on that.
I'm a loser, I can't even get through a whole set of this evil matrix without taking breaks. Especially since I'm already wiped out by the end of this workout.
Miss Jane, I felt the same way. I've only done it once, but jeez! I had to take a little break each time I did about 4 of those lunge jumps! I don't think my squats were low enough, either. i'm going to focus more on form next time and less on speed.
Oh, and today--a good 36 hours later--the back of my thighs are STILL screaming! LOL

Ah, this is good to hear, it's not just me. I did stage 3-A1 on Saturday and my hamstrings are killing me right now. I must be doing something right. And I'm supposed to do romanian deadlifts today????
Ha, not just you! My hamstrings are still screaming today. I did Stage 3, A1 on Saturday and I'm going to wait and do B1 tomorrow. Tonight I'll do a spinning class instead - that always loosens up my legs. Temporarily.
I actually bumped my B workout to tomorrow. I was still having aches in my legs yesterday and some knee pain (I've got arthritis pretty much all over and it has been flaring in my knees lately), so I gave myself another day to rest up.
