I’ve gone carb crazy!!!
Oh my goodness guys, I’ve lost it! Just can’t stop eating the junk food today! Now, normally, at the end of the day, I’m just a tad under 30% protein just because of the 2 packets of sugar (don’t talk to me about artificial sweeteners…yuck) I have in my morning espresso macchiato, and because I can’t end dinner without something sweet. Usually it’s a small bowl of ice cream or a few hershey’s miniatures. Not too terrible.
But today…I do not know what’s going on. It started with breakfast—I was running late, had to stop for gas, and when I got there, I had to go to three different pumps before I found one that was actually working, and then it wouldn’t take my card and I go in twice before the attendants got it fixed. Aargh!! So I got to the coffee shop and knew I didn’t have time to make another stop, so I got an apple fritter. Yes, an apple fritter. Then at lunch, I decided to try out this Thai place, and the Pad Thai sounded really good (rice noodles with crushed peanuts, egg and beef with a spicy sauce). It was wonderful! I didn’t eat all of the noodles, but I did eat about half of them because there wasn’t nearly as much meat as I expected. And then this afternoon, someone brought in cookies…you know the soft sugar cookies with a thick layer of frosting? Now I LOVE these cookies, but usually I can pass them right on by without much thought. Not today. I didn’t have one just because they were there. I WAS actually hungry. Needless to say, though, not the best choice. At least today is not a lifting day—or the day after a lifting day. I’m more careful on those days. I actually lift tomorrow. And at least I still have dinner to redeem myself. LOL.
Has anyone else had one of these days?

Oh man, I'm CONVINCED sometimes you just have hungry days. Some days it might be because you ate too much sugar at breakfast and your blood sugar was on a roller coaster all day long. Some days it might be hormones. Some days it just feels like the weather is to blame.
Don't beat yourself up too much! It puts it into perspective for me when I think about ALL the days I have left to live (hopefully) and what a small drop in the bucket it is to have a bad food day every once in a while.

Yeahhhhhh. I've never had one of those days either. Ever.
I've never had a day where I had a huge bowl of potato soup, and that seemed to set off the carb craving that wouldn't end. Nope. Ice cream, garlic toast, sourdough bread, ....
And then lying in a carb stupor on the sofa thinking to myself ... what the f***!!!
Yeah. I've never done that at all.
(what? no, those aren't my fingers crossed behind my back)

I certainly could never relate to your day! I didn't eat half a BOX of saltines yesterday because my stomach was a little upset and they seemed to settle it (yeah, a few crackers are ok, half a box - ugh!).
I do think once you get your insulin levels all crazy from processed carbs, it's hard to reign everything back in. But today, I was/am back on the 90% clean routine that I've been striving for...
One day won't ruin everything. Forgive yourself - you'd never berate a friend who had one bad eating day, right?

Carb crazy
Oh, I'm not berating myself about it, I don't even feel all that guilty. LOL. It is what it is, and there's nothing I can do about it now, right? Just haven't had a day like that this in a long time. I guess you've gotta have one every once in a while.

Yesterday was my "day"; at least last night was. And it was a workout day. After working out, I sat down on the couch with a pizza and that was the end of me. Meh. Today will be different...

It's a new day!
Okay,
It's another day, and I've started out well. Had my protein breakfast shake (milk, PB, banana and PP), and I have some oatmeal for my mid-morning snack, chicken salad for lunch.

*Sigh* I'm living that day right now. My macros are near perfect right now (they NEVER are) and now all I want to do is inhale the chocolate bar hubby gave me for V-day (yes I've managed to make it this long with only half eaten) and any other sugar I can find. I'm STARVING. I did lift last night, so that might have something to do with it, but it's just one of those days. It's that time too, so that ain't helping. I'm convinced that bears a lot of relevance on when these days hit. I just haven't figured out the exact pattern yet. The more I think about it the more I want to eat!!!

I really haven't been craving any kind of candy. Although today I cut across aisles in Costco, and it was one of the candy ones. I don't think I seriously considered buying anything. Well, okay, maybe the real fruit gummies tempted me for just a few seconds. I kept pushing the cart....

I only have one of these days every weekend! It used to get really bad cause I would feel so deprived all week then I called the weekend evenings "free" days and I took advantage of them! appetizers with friends and then a meal, drinks and those late night binges you have with girls after the nights of drinking. Oh man ! Now i don't think I will go AS overboard since I don't feel as deprived during the week. Can't say I will turn down appetizers and drinks with friends but maybe just share a little more

No doubt! Mine was all last week. I couldn't get a grip at all. This week has been great though and I do feel it 100% better now that I'm "clean" again and not so carb loaded.

YAWWWWN! Having a major carb craving/crashing day today too....
Woke this morning to start my garage sale with DONUTS! I don't even like or enjoy donuts, just sounded good today! :O That set me off to a binge too....pretzels, cheese stick (ok, not so bad on that one but it didnt' cancel out the donuts!) haha
Then, a smidge of choco milk.....eeeeek! So, here I am middle of afternoon with the crash.....could seriously nap right now!
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz but will fall asleep chanting to myself....MUST DO BETTER TOMORROW, MUST DO BETTER TOMORROW.....
And I am with you on the "timing"....it's my time for huge cravings of chocolate (and apparently anything made with sugar and deep fried??!!)
Nik~

When I overdo carb it's on frozen yogurt. I know, it does not sound worth it, but that is my thing. I'm over all of the other stuff at this point. Who knows why - it's even sugar free and fat free and yet it's the only thing I eat more than a bite of in terms of desserts. So, if it makes me feel better to eat only protein the next day until after working out, is that bad metabolism-wise? I tend to have a day where I'll have an outrageous (knowingly, not by accident) amount of fro yo and the next morning I really can't stomach anything beyond protein until after I have worked out whenever that is in the day, usually late morning/noonish. I always figure my glycogen stores are stocked at that point and can handle a workout. Everything else makes me nauseous. Any thoughts on that?

I discovered organic wine right before I discovered NROLW. A couple of glasses is 244 calories of empty carbs, but oh does it make the world a nice place after a long day at work | |
