OFFICIAL WOMEN'S CHALLENGE: Weekly Whatever Thread ... week 12/26
Since Julie and Jane seem to be MIA for the moment, I'll start this week's challenge thread.
Question of the week:
What's been the activity you've done that has helped you stay on track?? What are your strategies for getting back on track after life happens???

I'm not at week 12, so I hope it's ok if I jump in here...
For me, exercise and consistency isn't the hardest part - it's the food. I find that when I can get a few good days (or even a solid good day) of clean eating in, I can use that momentum to carry over into everything else. I work out harder and better, I eat better - maybe a bit of "I don't want to ruin it now that I've been eating clean for ___ days"...
So when life intervenes (and it ALWAYS does with kids, husband, full-time job, 2 dogs), I just push through. Getting to / back to the gym isn't my biggest challenge - it's the food. I struggle, but when I eat well, I find that the rest of it falls into place for me. That's how I get / stay on track.
or maybe I'm just weird

Logging my food and workouts both help me keep up my awareness of intake and output!
When I 'overeat' or 'underworkout' I have a protein only day. That helps kick the carb cravings and still gives me fuel for the next workout.

Journaling has really helped me stay accountable- writing my workouts down in a notebook and on here and Oxygen.
When life happens I think about how good I feel after a workout- its 11:45 on Monday and I feel great! I know I feel this good because of my committment to the program and now my food choices.

Another one who uses journaling of food and workouts to stay on track. If I get off track, I just have to remind myself (repeatedly, if necessary) that this does not mean it's time to throw in the towel, just that it's time to get back on track at the next meal or the next day if it's just been an exceptionally bad day. (I used to take the defeatist attitude, but now I'm not allowing myself to do that, which is a big step for me .)

I have to admit my trainer keeps me on track when it matters most. I can do most tracking and staying on path just through logging and coming here for support but when I really need a firm support or a push, I know I will get it from him.

I track all my food and journal, well I've been lax on updating my journal lately. But that's where keeping the paper log comes in handy too.

Honestly, when I read this, I couldn't think of one thing...I just stay on track. I just do it. One day after another. Weird...I wish I could point something out, I mean, I log and I track but that's not what keeps me on track. I guess it's just the desire to do this a certain way, and so I do.....maybe I'm weird, but I can't think of anything.

For me it's having a schedule. I finally found a time that works for me (lunch). Any other time, and it's just too easy not to go. I'm not a morning person so it's too easy to push the snooze and not get up. Evenings, it's too easy to get involved in something and "forget". So at this point exercise has just become the routine thing to do at lunch.
As far as what keeps me going on this program - being sore the next day! For some reason I like the feeling of being a bit sore, lets me know I've actually challenged my body.

I'm kinda the same way, too. Maybe for me, it's the old school of Soviet discipline?

I don't! I get thrown off track and whine about it. Then I get sick of being fat and I get back up and back on that proverbial horse. Friggin' viruses!!

Same here. I do find logging and reading others' logs motivational but I still get it done even when I don't have time for reading. It's like brushing your teeth -- you just do it. Unless you live in Arkansas. (Just a little Arkie jab from an Okie. )

Amen to that sister.
At least when I checked my waist measurement this morning it was still going in the right direction. I'm gonna have to be more militant about all this stuff. Much more militant. Time to get the 1lb dbs out and sit them on the desk so that I am reminded how good lifting makes me feel.

Sheer determination, willpower, and keeping my eye on my goals are what keeps me going. That, and knowing that I want to be healthy and strong for a LONG time. I know what I want and I know what I have to do to get there, so I do it.
I can't believe that month 3 pics are due in about a week....halfway thru the challenge! Time flies!
