Question HIIT in Stage 6 & 7???

Hi. I'm a new member and this is my first post to the forum. I LOVE the workouts in NROL4W!!! My question is about Stages 6 & 7. Are we supposed to do any HIIT in these Stages? There are no intervals listed after the weight workouts. Did I miss something?

Thanks for your response I just thought it was strange that intervals weren't listed like in the other workouts. Do you think there's a reason that he's not suggesting intervals directly after these workouts? My old trainer always told me not to do intervals after training legs because it would interfere with muscle growth. But then again, he didn't have the same training philosophy as Alwyn. Alwyn's training ROCKS! Just wondering...

If I remember correctly, stage 6 is optional and meant for some serious strength building; stage 7 is the cutting stage. I'm guessing that HIIT is left off these because they're going to be pretty taxing on their own. I could be wrong though--I don't have the book in front of me.

I'm guessing it all has to do with your goals. HIIT isn't just good for fat loss, it helps your body move the lactic acid out of your muscles faster so you can work out harder, and it increases your aerobic fitness. So HIIT once a week can help you with all your weight training goals.

If you do it more often, you'll probably lose more fat. If you stay at one a week, you'll probably put more emphasis on muscle building.

I know in Afterburn, Alwyn has people doing HIIT up to 5 x a week for 28 minutes each time.

HIIT isn't for fat loss? I need to go re-read about that then. For some reason I thought it was the freaking Golden Key to fat loss.

HIIT is good for fat loss. What makes you think it isn't?

Wow - reading that in the light of day makes so much more sense. I think I was up reading boards at 2 am. Ha ha. The brain was not reading it right. Sorry, nevermind.

Thanks ladies. I have been exercising for the last 5 years between 3 and 5 days a week. I lost 50 pounds through exercise and clean eating, and am stuck with the last layer of fat covering all the nice muscle definition hiding under there. So I guess my goal is still fat loss. I haven't done Afterburn, but 5 days a week for 28 minutes each??? AACCK! Alwyn's a madman! But that tells me that it is definitely possible to include HIIT after all my weight training sessions.

I really appreciate all your input--everyone on this board is so helpful and supportive!
