I wrote a few weeks ago asking a question about gaining inches... hopefully that doesn't happen- but I have a feeling it wont.
My knee hasn't been bother me (I have an old knee injury) and doing prone jackknifes has made my stomach sooooo sore. I don't think I've done anything that physically demanding since High School swim teams "breakthroughs".
Oh, are there any good protein powders that don't have whey or casien in them (or gluten or soy)? My body freaks out if I have any milk proteins--- I have a digestive disease.

I know that marygrace is vegan and has been using pea protein. You can hop over to her training log here if she doesn't come around this thread.
Also, you can use egg whites in place of protein powder when you mix it in food - like in oatmeal. Won't work for the protein shakes, but those are really just a convenient way to get protein after working out, and quickly. If you bring something else to eat right after working out that contains a lot of protein and some carbohydrates, you'll probably be okay.

i have an egg allergy, so I'm all about the whey protein, though my most recent whey protein purchase upsets my stomach something absolutely horrible. I dont' like straight milk at all, but I was a vegan for a while.
I know that you can get soy, hemp, or pea protein powder. I tried EAS soy protein, and the only way I could get it to fully blend was to rev it in the blender for a while, until then, it made for a chunky beverage. One of my friends goes for hemp protein, but it can be expensive. I've heard that pea protein is really good, but haven't had opportunity to try it.
I would love to use eggs as a protein source, but they not only make my mouth and throat itch, they can make me physically ill. If I want anything resembling eggs in a scrambled form, I make up scrambled tofu with turkey bacon and lots of veggies. good source of protein with no allergic reactions.
I would recommend trying pea or rice. You can get the pea protein from trueprotein.com. It tastes better than some of the other brands out there. The rice protein you can find at places like Whole Foods, but trueprotein.com doesn't have it yet.
Hemp protein is good too, but it has some fat in it and more calories and less protein per serving.
Marygrace- What is the product name for the pea protein on trueprotein.com? I can't seem to find it.
I have hemp stuff at home I've been using for a while- and I like it- but... it only has 11g of protein per 120 cal serving. I think I need more than that. I eat a LOT of fish, ostrich, beans, vegan protein bars, and nuts... but I still can't seem to get my protein up where the program recommends.
Oh gosh... I woke up today sooooo soar. That's good right ?
Nope. I asked for no sweetner, and the normal vanilla flavor is just plain vanilla, so I was told by their customer service. I'm afraid I could have a reaction to the sweetners.
