Question So many questions...

Yes, another lurker crawling out of cyberspace. I've been reading for a couple weeks, and feel like I know some of you already - just want to hug some of you guys for being so nice. The amount of support you show the "Jr. Members" is very encouraging.

Please, ... help?

1. What do you all think about the concept of the "free" meal. Put off cravings to a planned day/time; how do you all feel about this?

2. I've lost ALL my strength over the past year, and it is humbling indeed to not be able to complete 10 push-ups. In Phase 1, should I do 6 or 7 prone, or do all 15 at 30*? Some of you are using such HUGE poundage in the early stages, I just know I'd hurt myself, but there's this desire to do MORE and succeed FAST, you know?

3. How do you see someone's photos? I've tried clicking on some that go nowhere. Do you have to be invited?

I have more - many more questions. But, some are so stupid, I just can't bear to ask them yet!

1. Each individual has to do what works for them. I end up with enough unplanned family meals that don't match my eating plan that those are my cheats. I use JB's compliance chart and the 90% rule. So my cheats aren't planned, they just help me fit real life into my plan.

2. Do as many on the floor as you can, then finish on the incline.

3. I got nothing.

Welcome to the forums!

I find them quite helpful. Like Lisa, I try to stick to 90% compliance, meaning that 10% of my meals each week are "free". If I eat six times a day, that's 42 meals a week, and I can use 4 of them to have what I want. Lunch out with coworkers, going out to dinner with the BF, satisfying my sweet tooth. I think the concept of 10% is great, because you don't ALWAYS have to delay gratification, and it helps you from going head over heels crazy and eating up EVERYTHING you've EVER wanted.

I agree with Lisa. I started doing what I could on the floor (like 2) and then dropping to my knees when I couldn't do anymore. Alwyn recommends doing them all from your toes at different angles, but I just wanted to stay out on the mats, which is a different section of the gym than the weight benches. Anyway, now I'm up to doing all 10 on my toes, and I'm still working on form. I can get a lot lower now. One day I'll have a real army-grade pushup.

If they're embedded, they may not go anywhere. If they're as an attachment, they should download to your desktop. The HTML on the boards is a little wonky to figure out (at least for me), so I think most people just use the Insert Image button, which drops it straight into your box, instead of linking to another .html page with the photo on it (i.e., like if you use Flickr or Photobucket, etc.).

Just a guess!

Welcome.

As far as the meal is concerned, I usually don't just give myself a meal free-for-all...but that is because I live with people who aren't dieting, and I have friends who like to go out, so I inevitably have little splurges here and there throughout the week. So, I don't plan anything like that, but I definitely don't eat perfectly all the time...if that makes sense.

I agree on the push ups too, I'd do as many as you can on the floor first.

I don't really know what you are talking about with the photos

Default Thanks!

I see people commenting on other people's progress pix, but I can't find them by visiting their profile... is there a magic button?

I LOVE seeing the progress of other, non-superhero/supermodel/superhigh metabolism, regular old mom-types; gives me hope!

They're posted either in the Challenge Update threads or in people's Training logs. You'll have to dig for them a bit...but I think it just forces you to get to know people on a more individual basis. =o)

Look for the official challenge thread for NROL4W. There are a bunch on there. Mine are in my log but not worth looking at yet LOL! I am just a smaller blob so far.
