Default Planks

I just did the first workout in stage2. I found I could manage a minute with variation 2 of the planks (ie straight out on floor) - I wouldn't call it comfortably, but I feel I could be more challenged. However it seems a big jump to the next suggested variation -doing it on the ball. I tried this at the end to see and found it very difficult although admittedly my ball is bit soft at the moment. Has anyone any suggestions of a good halfway exercise - e.g. do you think a three way plank on floor would be a good next step, or a plank with arms fully extended instead of elbows?

Thanks, I might try that and then I can always drop back to a straight plank if I can't last the whole time.
