It's Working!
Alright, so I'm in week four of stage one and I've been working hard, but so far haven't seen a ton of visible changes to my body. I'm not too worried about it because it's not even been an month, but it would be nice to know that my work is paying off. Yesterday I discovered that it is! Here's how:
My workplace provided a volunteer opportunity in which we could work for a day on a Habitat for Humanity house and my boss and I both signed up. We got to the site yesterday morning to find that we were among the first crew to work on the house - that meant that most of the day would be spent filling foundation trenches with clay-like dirt, leveling the crawlspace (more digging) and raking giant piles of rock dust until level.
This was a day of very hard manual labor - shoveling, digging clay, tamping, raking gravel, none of it work I'm used to. I worked my a$$ off! I got in there with the 19 year old college students and I dug, tamped, and raked with best of them for much longer than I expected to be able to. I could feel my shoulders, arms, legs and obliques working.
I was sure I'd be stiff and sore this morning but I'm NOT! I feel just fine and I can only imagine it's because I've been doing NR for the past month. Yay for new muscle!
