I (clearly) was not using enough weight....or maybe it was talking to my workout buddy a little too long between sets?? hmmmm?
Apologizing and completely humbled, I return to my stage 1

Nikster, lol...don't feel humbled! It's a new program. I was feeling a little bored with it last week so I upped my weight this morning and MAN, it was a tough workout! Of course, it was also at 5am instead of my normal 9:30am, so that might have had something to do with it, too! lol I just started Week 3, though, so I'm halfway through Stage 1!

Hehe S! I KNEW if you upped those weights it would be a different workout. That workout I upped mine and couldn't run after it was something else. Ow. And Wowza to your fabulous new avatar!!

Nikster,
I have to confess, my first thought when READING the program was "maybe I should just start at Stage 2" -- I've been lifting for years, consider myself a pretty serious lifter (never been afraid of heavier weights, being in the "boy's" end of the gym)... But I figured I'd try Stage 1 and then skip ahead if it was too easy.
KICKED MY BUTT!!!!!
So, I'm working my way through it, upping weights often, sweating buckets... I love it! Can't wait for the next stages! (Does that make me weird? My non-lifting friends think I'm nuts!)

Just looking at these workouts, I said, pppffffttttt this is TOO easy. I wonder if I can make them harder LOL! Well, ya'll know the end of the story. I think it is the rest between them. Like NONE. If I lift heavy, I rest more. Not this way!

Exactly! I was on a program that eventually had us resting 5 min between each SET!!! Needless to say, this is a little more challenging! haha I am SO glad to see others feel the way I did, I honestly was not trying to brag....just didn't want to spend a month "losing" strength I had worked hard for.....but did Stage 1 workout 2B today (in only my 2nd week) and I went up in all the weights but had to go down in some reps.....some 10 some 12. I definitely see the "shake things up" part of this workout now! WHEW! And no, Bytsi, you are not crazy! I am SOOOO looking forward to the others too. I even LOVE the crazy looks I get at the gym when I am doing weird things! haha I say BRING ON THE LOOKS BABY!!! (from mostly trainers at my gym--haha)

Ha, I had the same thoughts but also stuck it out for Stage 1 and just moved on to Stage 2. Those "special" workouts at the end of stage one are pretty darn "special" alright. I had to sit down afterwards on a chair and talk myself out of throwing up before making my way to the changeroom. Just a head's up....
I started Stage 2 (A) yesterday and will do workout B tomorrow. I'm glad to be moving on to different exercises.
I mostly get "What program are you following" from people in the gym and mostly from women too. The men just want to offer advice on whatever I'm doing and even if they look at my book (I carry it with me, is that geeky?) they come up with a better way to do things. (well, let's say 'their way', instead of a better way). Ya...

LOL Kim! Yeah, I'm pretty happy with my weights now. hehehe thanks for the sweet words about the avatar!
Bytsi, everybody in my life thinks I'm nuts! I keep wanting to get them to feel my biceps, and last night I told my dad to poke my quads cause they were so firm! LOL I can't wait to move on to the next stage, too, but I'm working hard to stay focused here and get the most out of this stage. I've been reading those "step-up" threads, and I'm a little nervous that I might not have been doing them right, so I'm going to work on them a little tomorrow after my B workout to make sure that I'm going them right.

Ugh step-ups. I used 5lb Barbie weights with mine last workout. They are tough tough for me.

Just checking to see how everyone else is doing with stage 1. I think several of us started about the same time. I'm on week 3.

Whew...just finished workout 4A in stage 1. The good news...that prone jackknife is actually getting easy! When I started, I could hardly stay on the ball. Today I felt really strong while I was doing it. So far, this workout is going great. In a couple of weeks, the weather here will get nicer and I will be walking a couple of days a week in the morning with my neighbor in between weighlifting sessions.
How many of you are just doing the 3 days of lifting and nothing on the off days? Reading through the forum, it seems like alot of people are also doing some cardio on their off days. Right now I'm concentrating on lifting 3 days a week and have not done any supplemental exercise.
Stay strong!

I'm doing HIIT on my lifting days (after lifting) and I usually walk on my non-lifting days just to keep moving. I've got arthritis, and I have to move every day or I'll get all stiff and sore.
