I've been back to calorie counting for a little over three months, and the last two times I had cheat days (new years and my birthday Jan 4th) they both got out of control. So now I just try and work whatever I want into my daily calories. It may end up with the balance being different than I wanted, but still within the limits. I don't think I'm at the stage where I could have a day where I don't plan/count things.

Last week I went looking for ice cream, originally planning on buying some type of lower cal bar, but ended up buying the Häagen-Dazs. Instead of the pint though, I bought the smaller bars that come 4 to a box. The ones I got were 200 calories per bar and it was well worth it. Of course I had to put the other three out in the garage freezer, behind things. Although since they are so nice I won't leave them too long in the freezer. I'll just pick another day and work one in.

And you know something? Although they may be high in fat, there isn't any high fructose corn syrup in them (which were in the so-called diet product).

That's great! And really, it isn't the fat that matters so much as the calories anyway. So if something is high in fat but has the caloric total you're looking for, go for it.

thanks for the "clean eating " clarification. that makes perfect sense!
Do you have any input on my other question about cutting calories throughout the day and skipping mini meals to help with days when we go out for Appetizers and drinks with friends at night, Or would you continue the regular plan and just add in the indulgences for those one or two days in a week. I am not trying to lose weight. just maintain.

As a general rule, try to stay clean 90% of the time. I don't believe in skipping meals and "saving calories". Take each meal on its own. If you have a "bad' meal, then make the next one good.
