I have tried a lot of pp-
Optimum Nutrition- Strawberry (ICK ICK ICK) and Chocolate (Ok mixed with milk)
Dymatize- Banana, Chocolate (Both are great mixed with milk and or fruit. I have a hard time drinking them with water). I did not like the Vanilla- but I tend to not like vanilla flavored anything.
BSN- Cinamon Roll, I only eat this in oatmeal, but like it.
Max Nutrition- Vanilla and I can't stand it! I have a whole tub to use up- the only way I can drink this is with G2, Frozen Fruit and Ice Cubes blended.

I found the eas vanilla "grainy".
My fav vanilla I have found without internet ordering is Body Fortress Vanilla. I don't like the chocolate, yuck, chemical.

Does anyone know any other brands besides BSN that you can get sample packs? I was really grateful for those packets, it saved me a lot of money. I like BSN, but I'm looking for something that doesn't have a lot fake sugars or corn syrup. Any ideas?

In another p powder thread, one person mentioned an Optimum Nutrition sampler pack (via amazon) and another mentioned a true protein sampler as well!

Anyone use any of the non flavored PP? I've seen some at GNC and I figure that they at least don't have sweeteners and junk in them. Of course, if they're not flavored and thus taste like poo, that's no good. It's just a rock and hard place for me because I just hate taking in too many fake sugars. I especially can't have aspartame cuz it is a migraine trigger for me. At least there's none of that in BSN.

Anyone know of any nondairy sampler packs? I asked True Protein if they'd be able to do the gamma/pea in a sampler pack but they said they couldn't due to it being mass produced in quantities of 50,000 units.
I currently use Nutribiotic Vanilla rice protein. The taste is fine, but it has a grainy texture which makes me sad.

I really dislike artificial sweeteners so what I did was order flavored but unsweetened PP from True Protein. It doesn't taste like much, but it mixes really well and usually I add a little honey or powdered Nesquik for some sweetness. Without that, it just tastes like vanilla milk, which is fine with me.

Like others have mentioned, I don't like using anything with artificial sweeteners and flavorings. I have two brands that I use. One is Naturade 100% Whey vanilla, which has no added sugar and very little added flavor. I add this to my smoothie every morning and I really like the taste. The smoothie consists of frozen fruit (strawberry, raspberry, blueberry), soy milk, orange juice and flax seed. Because the whey is not very sweet, I add a few pieces of banana to make up for that. It actually tastes quite good - the whey gives the smoothie more of a creamy consistency with a bit of a milk taste, but no weird aftertaste.
The smoothie isn't as practical after a workout, because it's best to have it right out of the blender. So instead I make chocolate milk using EnergyFirst vanilla whey, which is sweetened with stevia. It's much too sweet to add to the smoothie, which is why I still use the Naturade for that. I make the chocolate milk with skim milk, a scoop of whey, and Hershey's cocoa powder. I don't use pre-made chocolate milk because most of that has high fructose corn syrup. The cocoa powder isn't the greatest for mixing, but for this purpose it works fine and the whey is plenty sweet enough for making the chocolate milk drinkable and it's very convenient.

Great tips! I mentioned using the Nesquik powder above and I should have mentioned I use it because it's the only one I could find that has sugar, rather than high fructose corn syrup, as the sweetener. It's probably not the cleanest choice but it's not too-too junky. 33 calories per teaspoon!

PROBOLIC SR by MHP
I just had to chime in....
I tried MHP's PROBOLIC SR (Vanilla) today and
OH
MY
GUACAMOLE!
This stuff tastes so good with just water I could drink the whole tub for each of my 6 meals/day!
I got it at Vitamin World for $30 for 2lb. It can be obtained cheaper at bb.com, I believe.
I am on low carb now trimming down the fat. The main goal is not to loose my hard-earned muscle. After researching different powders I stopped at MHP's PROBOLIC SR.
Here's a good description of this powder.
and all the ingredients.

Whole Foods sells a "natural" Nesquik-like powder with no funky ingredients. I can't remember the name but it is in the baking aisle near the chocolate chips, honey, etc.

There isn't a Whole Foods here, but I will check the local natural foods store and hopefully they carry something similar. Thanks for the tip!

Years ago I used to get hot cocoa powder in bulk at whole foods to use in protein shakes. I'm not sure how it compares to nesquick type things flavor wise (probably similar, maybe doesn't dissolve as well since it is designed for hot beverages). It was really cheap and, obviously since it was Whole Foods, natural.

Correction...
After a couple of days I find the taste just a bit chalky. Works great otherwise.
