Default No Soreness?

Maybe I should be happy that this is the case, but lately when I do my workouts I don't have any (or very, very minimal) soreness the next day. I definitely challenge myself with weights and am usually close to failure by the time my sets are finished, so I can't imagine that its a laziness issue or that I could go any heavier. The only thing I can think of is maybe the PWO shake is working so well for recovery that I'm just not sore at all?

Has anyone else experienced this?

I have had the same thing... every once in a while I'll get sore, but not bad. I'm attributing it to eating well and eating enough that my muscles are doin a bang-up job of repairing themselves :-)

That is how it happens for the majority of people. After 2-3 workouts, your body has adapted so it doesn't get sore anymore.

Don't worry about it. Soreness has never been a reliable indication of a good workout.

Some people always get sore, some never. The majority fall in between, where they get sore at the start of a new program or new exercise and then they are good until the next change.

I'm with Cynic. The post workout shake is supposed to help you feel less sore, and on top of that, the more you lift, the better your body gets at repairing itself. I say celebrate! Muscle soreness is the worst...I like a nice gentle ache in the days after a good workout. But I've been known to get overly enthusiastic in the weight room with a new exercise and then walk around like Frankenstein in the days afterwards, which is great if you love making little old lady/"this is what zombies must feel like" jokes. Not so great if you like to sit and stand and walk.

I didn't have any soreness after I did stage 1 workouts a couple of times. However, I was extremely sore (achy sore) after I started stage 2. I forgot that the workout shake is suppose to help with soreness. I am not very consistently with the shake.

Thanks, this is reassuring. I was mostly afraid that the lack of soreness meant I wasn't working hard enough.

Thanks everyone for sharing their experiences! From now on I will just be happy about being sore-free.

i start stage two tomorrow and i expect to be pretty sore this week after enjoying about a month with very occasional/mild doms. i may be crazy, but i've slipped a bit nutritionally this weekend since i was out of town, so i'm actually looking forward to the doms and hoping it puts me back on track with my food! karen

I noticed I wasn't sore after the first couple of weeks and was concerned about that too. This week I did a different set of exercises and am really sore again. (I am still technically in stage 1 but had to make some adjustments due to a fall on the ice onto my tailbone. It's bruised and right now deadlifting my dog's poop off of the sidewalk is rough, let alone any challenging weight - so I put together some exercises from the book that I can do until it's better.)

Also, I was totally ravenous when I started stage 1, but then my appetite calmed down a bit. After a couple of days of new exercises, I've noticed that I'm starving all the time again.
