Default Cool website for confirming exercise form

I stumbled onto this website today, and I thought it might be useful to some of you:

Animated Exercise Examples - TheTrainingStationInc.com©- Exercises

It shows animated versions of pretty much every exercise I've ever seen. Now, if you don't have a clue how to do a particular exercise, this may not help too much. But if you just want to check your form, I think this is pretty helpful.

Just thought I'd share!

Can you learn anything about technique from the animations?

Does this information teach you how to deadlift or teach you anything at all about a deadlift? Even if the drawing showed him in the right position for the start position (and it doesn't), you still couldn't learn anything about technique from watching the animation. It's just a jump from the first picture to the second.

I think it's a totally useless site.

Somewhere in between. Some exercises are done with bad form, such as the bent-over barbell row.

Makes sense. It's definitely hard to see the hand positioning with that cartoon. I hadn't checked out the site, but I can see the problem.
Thank you for explaining that!

Just looking at the picture, look at the shoulders relative to the bar. They should be directly above and/or even slightly ahead of the bar - the cartoon has them behind. Now picture him moving to put his shoulders in that position - his rear has to go up and the whole picture of the starting position changes.

I haven't found any site where I like absolutely everything that's posted. And some sites are better for particular types of lifts. ExRx, like Cynic said, is a mixed bag. There's some really good info there, especially stretches, planes of movement, and origins/insertions of muscles. But the exercise technique videos are very old and many of them look like old bodybuilder-style technique. Sometimes it's good and sometimes it's just terrible.

I've posted my favorite sites many times before. And I'm willing, and usually available, to post a good picture or video of an exercise if someone asks.

I haven't been around here long, but that is the truth! You are SO helpful and while I haven't said it before, thank you!

Most of them are pretty good. I don't like all of them. As always, it's not the site, it's the specific lift you have to consider.

I love the 3-way views. That part is very cool.

I guess my point is that there is a lot of good information that others might not be exposed to simply because the title of the sub-forum says FOR WOMEN and that doesn't draw them in.

The entire forum is FOR WOMEN it just doesn't explicitly say so. From my stand point it would be nice to get some of your threads into the wider forum.

Gabe, thanks for checking out the good things happening here. Any time you find something you think is worthwhile, feel free to start a thread in the training forum and link them. We welcome the participation in the NR4W forum!
