Default Bruised and Battered Knees

I fell last Friday on black ice right on my knees. They have been okay then not off and on. I don't hurt on the knee cap but below the knee cap and the muscle above the knee cap. Still quad?

Anyway I went ahead and did a light workout on Monday. Now I am reconsidering. I had been doing Smith Squats, yeah I know better now.

I guess it could be two things going on at once.

Here is the question.

Squats bother me. Step ups do not. Lunges always bother me. Deadlifts fine.

Should I forgo the flexing knee exercises entirely until things heal up? And if I do what exercises do you think I could do instead? Leg presses?

I did Leg presses when I hurt my knee last summer and everything was fine and it got better.

you might get more input if you post this question over in the injuries sub-forum or maybe a mod could move it for you

Yeah, leg presses (especially with both legs up on the sled are not recommended for safety reasons. It's a completely non-functional movement. And if the hips come off the pad, your lower back is in jeopardy.

I don't know how severe your pain is, but what about bodyweight squats with focusing on keeping your weight on the heels?

Actually I did that on Monday and then even tho the pain did not get worse it is still there. The pain can be anywhere. It shoots when I move funny or just turn my leg. The BW squats I am in a fixed position and not twisting. Afterward I could not tell if it was DOMS or the injury. Darn!

I thought perhaps I can just do the DL and Step ups for A AND B until the bruising and soreness goes away.

I think I better take it easy. I don't want to LOL!

Still trying to figure out what I wanna do. I don't think it is a real bad injury. I have no inclination to go to the doc and all those x rays ugh.

I am in a PT place three times a week with DS. They are pretty pressed for time to do a favor for me
