Default Back from vacation.

Hello, everyone, we're back from our cruise. Had a wonderful time, tried to eat good...but, even though I did make good choices most of the time, I didn't all the time and have come home with a 7 pounds gain.

Not only that, I was unable to continue with the program in the book. Two reasons for that. One...the gym on the ship did not have an Olympic barbell. In fact, they didn't have any barbell. Only free weights and machines.

The other reason, I found it hard to exercise in the gym with the motion of the ship. I tried doing HIIT on the treadmill, but had to keep a hold of the treadmill the whole time and just couldn't push myself like I should have on it. Working the the dumbbells was OK, but without a barbell following the program was impossible. And nothing to step-up on...not that I would as the ship's movement would have made me leary of that.

I did play around on the machines they had, but after Monday I did not go back...but, did do several walks on the deck in the mornings.

So, what do I do now? Should I backtrack a bit...or press forward where I left off. I'm sure I've lost some ground. I'm already behind everyone else since I missed a whole week of workouts.. I have roughly two weeks until we take pictures again. Right now, new pics of me would not be pretty.

For this challenge..do we all have to finish at the same time? If I backtrack a week or so...I'm going to be way behind.

Thanks, Jodi

Onward ho (or whatever they say.) Sounds like you had a great time and that 7 lbs will probably be gone after a week of good eating. Why not just start back where you were and see how it goes. It's still just Stage 1 (I think) so I don't think it really matters.

Glad you are back and ready to get going.

BTW, we are all at different places. Some people have been sick, others started a couple weeks early , and it really doesn't matter.

Welcome back! It sounds like you had a great time and you deserved that.
I never thought about the motion of the ship, that would have been tough.
Like Annette said, we are all in different parts of the workouts, do what feels right for you!

We'll all finish at the same time, July 7, but not at the same time in the program, necessarily. Heck, there are some not even doing NROL4W!

What Annette said, esp. about the weight gain.

I tried to lift during a cruise and experienced the same thing. The motion of the ship gave every exercise an unstable component! HA! That was ok for some things and not such a great idea for others. Like you, I only attempted to lift that one day. After that I did morning stair runs, before the crowds got up, just going up one side across the top and down the other side, and repeat until I felt like stopping. It was hilarious and made me laugh to take sideways steps when the ship would rock. I tried to take them two at a time, but it was more like two up, two up, one to the side, lol. It was fun though. And I didn't even consider trying to limit eats during that trip!

Welcome back!

Lisa, I'm so glad to hear from someone else who tried to lift while on a cruise. It didn't help that the gym had wall-to-wall windows looking out over the moving ocean. Talk about making you dizzy!

I'm still getting my land legs back. It's a lot better today. I went to the gym today and did my first workout since we left. I backtracked and am repeating the previous two workouts. Didn't do too bad, had to lower the weight only a little.

You were just gone one week right? No way you gained 7 lbs in one week. At least I think there is no way. Don't sweat it... Just get back on track and you will adjust again quite quickly.
