Time off...
I wanted to take off a week from the gym and it turned in to two weeks (I'm feeling burned out)...I'm ready to get back, but I'm not sure if I just pick up where I left off...I finished stage 2 before my break. Is it ok to just go onto stage 3 or did I take too much time off??
Those two weeks were spent doing nothing as far as exercise and eating way too much.. I got on the scale and it wasn't pretty, but that's my own damn fault for shoving the food in my mouth and being a lazy a**!!
Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

Hey green eyed gal
I can't say about how you should start off your program again...someone more knowledgable will probably answer, but as for taking a couple of weeks off, I know from personal experience, you need to know when you body needs rest and listen to it.
You mentioned you felt burnt out....there's a difference between slacking off and resting. Don't be too hard on yourself. Did you rest between the stages 1 & 2. There is a reason for those rest periods... to avoid burning out.
Get back into the program and look ahead...guilt trips are pretty useless

Start where it feels right to start. If you want to start over to feel like you've done it through, do that. If starting over would be discouraging, start where you left off. Where did you leave off, by the way?
Were you burned out on exercising or just life itself?

Easiest way to decide is try stage 3. Too hard? Lower the weight till you get back to where you "should" be. There's no reason after such a short time you can't move on, but your weight amounts might be less than they would have, or they might not. I mean, really you only missed 4-6 workouts. Whoop de do.
Still, the change you'd make is not which exercises to do, it's which weights to pick. There's nothing that can't just be continued here.

Thanks, everyone... I went ahead and continued onto stage 3. I'm not as bad off as I thought I would be.

I started working full time after being home with the kiddos for seven years and learning how to juggle work, family and working out is stressing me out a little. I think I went through a mini depression or something.. I just turned 40 and I think my hormones are starting to go wacky on me...AF showed up and now I feel normal again!!

I only ask because sometimes, when I'm really stressed out, I won't want to work out, but if I do, I always end up feeling better for it. All those endorphins, you know?
I hope you can find whatever it is you need to feel better in your own life.

There are days that I'm exhausted, but I'll still go workout and I always leave the gym in a better mood than when I walked in. I try to remember that on the days I don't feel like going in because I'm tired.. It really helps me get through the rest of the night with my family!! I guess I forgot that these past two weeks..

Ah, I think we all burn out from time to time. The biggest thing is to just move past it and forgive yourself for the slip up. Sometimes the forgiving yourself part is the hardest...keep up those good habits.

I'm not hugging. GEG, you screwed up.
If this is the same GEG from MH:
You came from fatland.
You've seen the good results from the hardwork.
You slacked and started back to fatland.
I did the same last year and I'm practically back to my 2003 weight which was horrible. It's my fault. I'm not looking for sympathy, not looking for a scapegoat. I just have to get back on the workouts and get it done because I can't simply shave the fat off.
You said it yourself, you walk in feeling crappy, walk out feeling good. You need to look further ahead. That is what will save you.

Cynic,
Nice reminder that sometimes it is not as important what we do (ie stage 2 or stage 3) but rather just that we DO!!!
JUST DO IT.

Hi Cynic...Yes, it's me!! I'm refocused and I had a great day yesterday...I got my workout in and I stayed within my calorie range. I'm trying to take it one day at a time...The more good days I have the better I seem to do...
Thanks for the input, everyone!!
