Just for some background.. I've completed Breakin through fatloss 11 and will have completed fatloss 111 this week with NROL. Yes I have achieved some pretty good results which my daughters and wife have noticed and now they want to give it a try too.. Of course I'm supposed to design some workouts for them which leads me to some questions
1. I was thinking of buying NROLW... Has the binding problem been fixed yet?? Is it much different from NROL for men? ( which I currently have )
2. My daughters are in grade 9 and 10... Is there a good teenage program out there? I know google is my friend but I can be led astray quite easily and would rather get a recommendation on something.. They do not need to loose weight but need to add some strength....
So I was kind of thinking maybe I could get something for them out of NROL for women and also a book called " The metabolism advantage" by John Berardi..
Just for some further info.. My wife has had her thyroid removed ( thyroid cancer ) and is on medication for it... She wants to lose weight and get in shape....
Another guy, obviously. I think NROL4W would be a better choice for all of your women.
MA is a good book, but most "normal" people aren't going to want to eat that way. At least not as a newbie to good nutrition. I eat that way, but I didn't start off that way. I'd gone through quite a few dietary/nutrition strategies before finding one I liked.
MA has you eating meat and other proteins, healthy fats, and veggies, for almost all of your meals. No bread, oatmeal, pasta, rice, etc., except in the 2-3 hours after a workout. That's excellent for me, but how do you schedule a meal around a family of four that's on four difference workout schedules (or no workouts at all)?
NROL4W teaches women (and your girls) more about healthy body image, too. Not to under eat, etc. It's not that MA is the opposite, it's just not part of the book. MA is just about nutrition and exercise. NROL4W is about more than that.
The workouts in NROL4W and NROL are different. NROL4W has a long term plan laid out for them.

Thanks for the info so far.. I will be getting the nrolw for sure but is there another book anyone could recommend?.. Only because if I get another book for around 20 or so I can get free shipping
I do have an exercise bike, elliptical and some jump ropes for HIIT training.. so we're pretty much covered that way.
I'd recommend NR4W for your wife. I think it's different enough that it'd be more appropriate for her.
While NR4W isn't necessarily wrong for your girls, I'd prefer to see them start with learning basic movement skills and coordination before you begin teaching bilateral squats and deads. Read some of Brian Grasso's information and you'll get the idea of what I'm talking about. I'd recommend his newsletter too. He usually includes some good info (along with the heavy sales copy). To get you started, read these two short articles and take a look around his website.
Zach Even-Esh wrote a good article with some examples of appropriate training for teens. The basic message from both of these resources is to teach teens how to create coordinated movement through tough bodyweight exercises before moving into external loading.
Most of the material directed at teens is directed to the teen athlete. Even if your girls don't play a specific sport, they can still benefit from the basic movement skills needed for athletes.
I realize that my post doesn't help you with super-saver shipping, but I doubt that's the biggest motivation in choosing a program for your girls!
The first question I had after reading your post was why are you asking the question instead of your wife.
I'm not trying to be funny, but I never looked at my husband lifting weights and losing weight and thought put me together a program. But now that I've started lifting weight he is a very good resource.
Has she read your NROL book? If she has, then I'd say buy her NROL4W. If not, I'd ask her to look through your book first before buying NROL4W.
As far as the binding problem, I haven't seen where it's been resolved. I'm on my second book and it took a week or 2 longer than the first but is still coming apart.

Valid Question... We both lead really busy lives.. Hers happens to be more mentally stressing..She's usually asleep by 8 Pm.. I go to bed at 11:30 so.. we always trade off.. She hates "how to" books.. I love em..I hate cooking. She doesn't mind She just wants someone to show her a good plan and then she'll follow it... I promised I'd dig up something for her.
If I came up with a good plan and did it with her she would gladly do it.. So I didn't know if NROLW was much different in exercises and diet than the men's NROL..She also eats really healthy but in the wrong ratio's... So I promised her if she gave me the list of foods she ate I would key it into fit day for her and we could see where the ratio's are and where we could change it.
We're working with a lot of things with her.. Being that she has had 3 children, Had an 8lb ovarian cyst removed while pregnant with one of them, no thyroid, and is now in a seemingly permanent menopause I would imagine her Metabolism would be out of whack too...She is going to be 49 in March..
So... hey.. it's the least I can do right??
As far as the kids go... My youngest ( who has actual muscle showing in her arms) was complaining she was all show and no go.. I had to hold in my chuckles.... she said she had the most muscle but every kid in the class could kick her butt arm wrestling.. So it was "hey dad" what can I do to get stronger...
I'm glad you posted a lengthy response. If I had seen this first, I would have had a totally different response.
I haven't read NROL, but from what I've seen on this and other forums, the NROL4W weight-lifting program is kick-butt gender neutral.
The book is more geared toward getting women to embrace the utility of weight-lifting and helping them to understand the benefits (since most of us are not encouraged to try it). In addition, it provides information about eating to fuel your workouts and in doing so still achieve a weight loss goal. I think this is especially important for counter-programming of weight loss tips a lot of women follow.
From what you said, if your wife is not likely to read the NROL4W book, you could use the NROL workouts, your knowledge, encouragement, and creativity and be just fine.
I would be interested in following your journey (if you and/or she starts a training log). I'm currently going through my own version of hormonal hell, though nothing to the extent your wife has experienced. She has my empathy and sympathy.

Lisa: Thanks for the links.... I can see where I probably would have done it all wrong..
DanceDiva... I have one last workout in fatloss 111 left... I started with break-in and followed through fatloss 1 & 2..
Re: The hormones.... Although I've never experienced the hormone thing myself, I "have" experienced the "effects" of it. ( grin ).. 3 Daughters and my wife... Just something we all learned to work around.. and of course I think us guys can pms or experience mood swings just as badly sometimes....(grin)...
Re: Exercise.... I think I will start them out with just body weight stuff for the first couple of weeks....I'll know right away if it's too easy and I'll just "adjust" from there..
I think one thing NROL4W would be good for is to show your daughters that you don't have to starve yourself to be fit and healthy.
