Red face No Chin-up bar

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie here, writing from Germany.

I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions to post here, but here's my first one:

If I can't get to a chin-up bar, what excercise can I do instead of the negative chin-up?

Thanks!

in 5 or 6 months (when chins come into the program) would you be able to arrange to get access to a chin bar? or be able by then to get one for a door way? or get to a playground where they have them?

Oh, I didn't even look when I would need to do them, I was just looking through the excercises to see what was needed. I guess 5 months should be enough time to find a solution. The playground idea is great. Thanks!

I agree. I think that in that late stage of this program, Alywn really intends to concentrate on chins (from what I understood when reading about it).

I have this chinup bar that I bought from amazon.com:

Amazon.com: Creative Fitness Door Gym: Sports & Outdoors

I like it because you can take it out of the doorway when it's not in use, and there are no screws or bolts to screw up the doorway.

If you have a squat rack or power rack/cage, you can do them from the barbell suspended at the highest level. In mine, this means I basically have to start on my knees, but it works!!

No problem! I have mine hung up in the doorway in my computer room. Every time I want to use the computer, I do one slow negative from the chin-up bar. My arms are getting better already!

Julie, you should just buy a metal pipe that's wider than your cage and strap it to the top (bungie it down, etc). It's not going anywhere.

on my rack I couldn't do that because of how the upper pulley runs - at least not without some serious macgyver-ing - maybe parallel to the pulley run - but that's a pretty small space ... hmm ...

I use the flowbar (flowbar.net) and while you're not lifting yourself off the floor, you're still getting a killer workout....I have shoulder issues from overtraining, but still want the beatings, so this has worked well for me, and it can be stashed under the bed and used for pushups too.
