Okay, went for the Nike Free hunt tonight and no luck at the sports stores I went to here in Dallas. Any other type shoe that you recommend for weight training? What about kickboxing, would running shoes be okay?
I plan on buying myself a pair of Chucks, like Cynic showed above. I haven't owned a pair of these in years and to be honest, I'm pretty darn excited to get some.

It's probably been a year since the last time I actually saw some Nike Frees in a store. If you prefer them, you'd probably be better off finding them on-line, which can be risky if you've never tried a pair on.
I buy a lot of my shoes online because so many now offer free shipping and free RETURN shipping, so it's so easy and painless. Give it a shot online if you are really set on the Frees.

For kickboxing you don't want to use running shoes. Running shoes are made for forward movement and there's a lot of lateral and twisting moves in kickboxing. I use a good crosstrainer for martial arts training. You'll want a shoe with good lateral support.
Make sure you get the Nike Free 3.0 if you do order them or buy them in the store. I think they come in 3.0, 5.0, and 7.0 but 3.0 has the least amount of support like a running shoe would.

I think the 3.0 is being discontinued, too. So, probably online is your best best.

I have the ankle height chucks.... I love lifting in them. I also like lifting barefoot

Heard mixed reviews on this. Have you ever had to use your skills in real world as self-difference? I am thinking of starting participating in kick boxing classes.
There is the Nike Free 3.0, 5.0 and 7.0.............which one do you guys suggest? Would you use these only on leg days or can you plan on using this shoe for weight training period, whether upper or lower body?
That, I don't know. I've only had the 3.0's. BUT, I think the 3.0's are being discontinued. I remember seeing that on some site when I was looking to order a back-up pair.
Is there a difference between them...the 3.0, 5.0 or 7.0?
Yes. I've been following this thread, and on the Nike Free website, they talk about the numbers. It's a scale of 1-10, 1 being most like running barefoot (least supportive), 10 being much the most supportive in the line.
Personally, I'm going to order a pair of adidas Sambas:
I'd made up my mind a few days ago, and then I saw this and it totally convinced me:
I'm looking for a pair of shoes as all I have are my NB running shoes that have an insert with a high arch... not working well and throwing my balance off for sure.
I have really wide feet though (I wear a 9D). Anyone know of shoes that come in that width? Neither the Nike Frees or Sambas come in wide (and I know that Nikes tend to run on the narrow side anyway). I tried on low-top Chucks this weekend and they were also too narrow.
thanks!

Oh man, Chucks are notoriously narrow. Have you tried going to a sporting goods store and asking around? For instance, in the town where I live, we have a running store that educates their staff to identify pronation, supination, and other foot ailments. You might see if there's a store in your town that stocks a wide array of sports shoes, and then go in there and ask for someone knowledgeable.
Have you tried buying mens shoes? They're usually cut a bit wider, aren't they?

You're right about the men's shoes; they are wider. I only tried on men's chucks but I didn't really look around more. I should go back & wander. I might check out Dick's sporting goods too... they may not have anything, but it might at least give me some ideas of shoes to look for on zappo's... (like maybe they don't have wide at Dick's, but do on Zappos).

Saw a link to this thread in another thread & thought I'd post an update.
I ended up buying a pair of men's Pumas like these:
They're almost perfect. The heel is only a LITTLE elevated; not much. And they're almost perfect in width. still a little narrower than a D-width but definitely better than women's shoes. So they were a good find and I'd recommend them to other women with wide feet looking for a relatively flat shoe. They're super comfy as well.
