I'm not a fan of the bodybug. First, it's outdated. Conventional wisdom says that your intake can be measured exactly against your output, and if you are in deficit you lose, if you are over, you gain. The BB is based on tracking actual expenditure so you can be more precise.
That sounds good on paper (or on a computer screen as it were), but it doesn't go very far to explain how someone 300 pounds can eat 1200 calories a day and not drop a pound, and someone who is skinny and 135 pounds can eat 4000+ calories a day and not be able to put on a pound.
In other words, there is more to it than simply measuring intake/output. Your metabolism is a very complex thing, each one being very unique. Even I managed to drop 20 pounds recently, and my calorie intake actually went up, much more than my workout output. For me, the key is managing blood sugar (TNT Diet was very successful for me). I avoid the peaks AND the valleys... Like a great white shark, I feel like I am eating all day long, and my diet is high in fats (yes, even saturated, and my cholesterol is very normal and healthy, as are my triglycerides).
A body bug would see my BMR at around 1880 calories based on my weight and body fat percentage and with daily activity I may need an addition 1000. To put me in deficit it would probably drop me 200-500 calories below my BMR plus daily activity (between 2300 and 2400 calories), and I would friggin' STARVE!
It's a clever little marketing device, perhaps designed with good intentions, but I'm not really even convinced that the APEX people even believe it anymore. It's still selling like hot cakes in back water gyms (and probably some megagyms too), so even if it is proven to be bogus, I doubt they will stop. It's a helpful device for getting them to sell you their products, which I can't really stand anyway. All their bars are loaded with simple carbs, and they taste like crap to boot.
I really like the GWF as well. I think it underestimates my burn some, though, especially on lifting days. But overall, it's helpful to me to see when I am burning, what I'm doing, which isn't always when I think I'm burning the most!
TxGirl, check out the threads in Fat Loss Troubleshoot on the GWF; there are at least two of them, and one is really long. People have logged everything you can think of in there about how it works, and the science behind it, and its accuracy, etc.
There's one thread here and I'll try to find the other that is really good.

Do you have some info on this? That's disheartening if that is true.
So you are not sold on calories in, calories out? I guess I get more confused every day! Bobbie
