When I am under pressure, I get SUPER organized. When I was writing my master's thesis, I broke out absolutely everything I needed to get done, week by week. At work, I use this same method for large and small projects.

I think things are easier for us to deal with if we break them out into small pieces. I can't remember where I read this, but when I was doing research for my thesis, I read that the human brain can only handle 3 major things at a time. Anything more than that, we'll crumble. So, if you're going through a divorce, starting a new job, and moving, that's pretty much ALL you'll be able to deal with!!!

So, to deal with the pressure of this - I have planned out my exercises for each week up to the end of the year. I've already had to change a few things due to my foot, and it's ok, because I can see the big picture as well!

I read through some of the posts about a food scale. I can't believe that in 5 years of doing Weight Watchers, I still don't have a food scale!!! I really think this is something I need to look into.

Can someone remind again exactly when the deadline is for new pics/stats? I had been thinking it was the 7th since that's when we started but then also remember someone mentioning the 4th? but have seen in a couple of logs about this weekend. My memory is Swiss cheese.

Mmmm, Swiss cheese. I do like Swiss cheese.

lol, temptation. I have to admit, that I watch the biggest loser. I wish I wasn't addicted to it, because their training methods and dietary restrictions go against everything I believe, but I am hooked, nontheless. this week, they had a temptation that involved drinking soda-which isn't a biggie for me. now dark chocolate, wine, cheese? bring it on!

I'm addicted to that show too! It's incredible the transformations that the people on that show make. And soda wouldn't have been a big temptation for me either... but theone they had with all the cheesecake and stuff.. that woulda done me in!

I also have a Salter (they are supposedly the most accurate to within 1-2 g) ... mine has a square glass top and looks pretty enough to leave out on my counter. It also has a tare/zero button, a gram/ounces button, and a fluid ounces/ml button. I think it was around $60 and I got it at Williams-Sonoma.

I love the Biggest Loser ... here is an interview that Lyle McDonald did with one of the former contestants about some of the stuff that is real and staged and how some weeks they lose 10+ lbs and others only 2 or 3 ... it is interesting, and I've enjoyed the show more since reading it.

So, the training methods are not that different that what we believe ... if you've read Alwyn's Hierarchy of Fat Loss article, then know that for him, if you have TIME, then he recommends in order of importance:
1. Metabolic Resistance Training
2. High Intensity Anaerobic Interval Training
3. High Intensity Aerobic Interval Training
4. Steady State High Intensity Aerobic Training
5. Steady State Low Intensity Aerobic Training

So, when watching TBL, keep in mind that all they have to do is workout and eat! So they have TIME to do all of those types of workouts. In Lyle's interview, the contestant said that one week of time on TBL was equivalent to 1 month in real life.

Scales:
I've had two. They both converted between lb/oz and kg/g. They both had a good tare (zero) function.

One had a feature I didn't realize how much I used until the replacement wouldn't do it - and that is measuring in the negative.

Example: You want to measure out 4 oz portions for several plates. put all of your cooked chicken on the scale. Tare the scale. Now take off chicken and it counts negative oz - when you see -4 you can stop and tare it again for the next serving.

The new scale - if you try that - just shows dashes when it goes negative. So now to do the same portioning you either have to do the math in your head (1 lb 1.5 oz minus 4 oz = ?) or you have to put the dinner plate on the scale, hold the serving container and measure each onto the scale.

It's not a big deal but like I said - I never realized how much I used that "feature" until it was gone.

Me too! If nothing else, The Biggest Loser is motivating. I watch it and want to run to the gym!

And, dare I even admit it.....but my other guilty pleasure is Rock of Love. It's a train wreck, I know. But, I can't stop watching.

Personally, the Biggest Looser has too much drama for my taste. And I wish the guys kept their shirts on...Now, Bob on the other hand could take it off
