Default WOMEN'S CHALLENGE - Weekly Support/Motivation/Whatever Thread - Week 2/26

New week ... new question ... but also post all the other stuff in here too about how you are doing and all that ...

What is your motivation? Why do you eat clean and work out?

I eat clean and workout for health reasons ... if anyone is interested in the long boring story, you can probably get most of it from my log or my personal blog. I have always been active and healthy and ate well and exercised, but was really fat after my youngest daughter was born. I got started with BFL when she weaned in August of 2005 and have been going strong since then with a bit of a side trip due to some health issues (explained in the blog/log).

I turn the big 4-0 this year, and I want to look better at 40 than I did at 30 ... so that is my current motivation.

Then there's all that stuff about modelling good behavior and habits for my daughters. Wanting them to grow up thinking that skinny is ugly and strength is beautiful.

But right now it is my looming 40th birthday!!

I eat clean and workout because I am changing my family tree. everyone in my family is obese and has medical problems related to obesity, and I don't want that. since losing 70 pounds and becoming fit, I have way more energy than I did when I was younger. I feel wonderful. and nothing is worth going back to my sedentary days.

My motivation is my mother. I look at her and I am so sad. I love her to death and she is just a wisp of a thing. After her stroke, she is only 90 pounds -- just skin and bones. She is so frail. Because she didn't look after herself physically and nutritionally, she is very weak. I fear that she will not be able to make it if she would get seriously ill. I don't ever want to be weak. I want to be strong physically and mentally as I age. That's my motivation.

Now, for this week, the diet is ON 100%. But, this killer of a cold has me beat! I did my workout on Saturday, but I probably shouldn't have. School was torture yesterday (6 hours of Chemistry), and I am toast today. I am *hoping* to workout tomorrow (was scheduled tonight, but had a kleenex hanging out of my nostril all day). BUT, all in all, I am still on target as long as I get my 3x workouts in this week.

My motivation is first to be a positive role model for the young woman that my daughter will become. I really need to change my self defeating attitude and be strong and confident for her.

My other motivation is for me. I have never attained a goal that I set out for. I never finish anything. It sounds silly but I want my husband to be proud of me. He has accomplished so much in the last few years. I sat back and quietly supported him. I want to be the one being cheered on!

My motivation is the pair of jeans that fit me 2 years ago, but don't anymore!

Really.... I quit smoking.... again.... and gained a few lbs in the process. I am thinking of this as part of my journey towards leading a healthful life! I want to be proud of my body and how hard I've worked for it.

I did it!! Yeah! I wish you could see Jack (my 2 year old) pump his fist and say "YYYeeesssth!" That's how I feel tonight! "Yesth!"

Thanks everyone for motivating me and not letting me slack off.

I do have a bit of an explanation that I feel you guys deserve. I have been relatively quiet the past week, not visiting many logs and I don't want you to think I am being anti-social...it's just something about me that when I put my nose to the grindstone I get really quiet. I didn't learn this about myself until the labor/delivery room...the harder the contractions got the more quiet I became. I wasn't scared or backing off, I just find strength and peace deep down in my core.

So, I want you all to know that you are a part of my core for this challenge and I take you with me where ever I go...thanks for being my friends!

Rock on, Ladies of JP Fitness!

My goodness, Julie! Your interview was such a good read. Loads of info and quite entertaining. I wish my PT textbooks were that well-written. I have to make myself study some textbook material, but I had to postpone my bathroom break just to finish your interview

About this week. Everything is going great. I am loosing inches and a little weight, while gaining strength: went up in my:

squat (started 95 lbs ---> now 125 lbs)
seated row (started 80 lbs ---> now 100 lbs)
DB SHOULDER PRESS ( started 20 lbs dumbbells --> now 25 lbs db)

Hoping to up the deadlift soon.

My motivation.....you all, guys!

I hope to keep pushin' How's everyone else?

My Primary Motivation is my mother.... at 62 she's been on dialysis for several years and her quality of life sucks the big one. She's always tired and the health problems she's had related to diabetes could have been easily avoided had she taken care of herself properly.

My secondary motivation is myself - I want to be a better person and weight training has brought a passion into my life that I didn't expect. It's fun to for me to see what changes I can make to my body through a regular regimine of exercise in terms of strength and physique.

At age 50 I have finally learned to be SELFISH and be happy about it. My motivation is ME, living a happy and healthy life. Eating clean makes me 'feel good' and working out gives me cheap thrills. I love seeing the muscles and feeling strong.

Today was my planned cheat day on eats so I now I can be a good girl for the rest of the week. LOL First workout of the week is tomorrow.

What's my motivation? Nothing, really. It's just something that needs done so I'm doing it. (I was never much overweight or really out of shape until I quit smoking mid-2006 so, after taking a few months to lick my wounds and pack on the pounds, it was time to take them back off.) I'm not speeding to the finish line and I'm certainly not having a perfect record along the way but it's all about improving, bit by bit. If I say I'll do something, I'll do it. End of story.
