Wow Nat. I just looked at your blog too on bodybuilding site and WOW!! What you did was amazing. Congratulations. I am in complete awe.
Are you from NC or Russia? I learned to speak Russian when I was in the USMC and it has served me well over the years. Just recently in Israel I found that there are many Russian speakers.

I am born and raised Russian. At the age of 21 found my Prince Charming, who happened to be from New Orleans, La. Now we with our 2 daughters reside in beautiful Charlotte.
Yes, Israel is full of Russians. Growing up I remember Jewish people were looked down upon. So, they all left once the curtain was lifted. I'd love to visit Israel. We almost did for our honeymoon, but it was 3 times more expensive than Hawaii Anywho, good for you that you know Russian. Not too many ppl will try to tackle it.

My motivation for doing this challenge is so many things. I don't want to be a victim of my genes (parents with heart disease/bypasses and emphysema in early 50s) or a bad example for my kids. And, I want to look good for vanity reasons. I'd like to look the same as I did when I got married at 21, when I didn't really appreciate it.
Julie and Natalia, you have great blogs with lots of interesting information.

How come I wasn't notified about this message...and that's not the 1st time. Anyway, sorry, Paula, for not getting back to ya earlier. I am using CalorieKing software ( CalorieKing - Diet and weight loss. Calorie Counter and more.) on my computer. You can't beat their food database. I kinda got tired of creating 'custom' foods in FitDay, so I switched. It's got a bunch of cool, geeky features. Pie charts are to die for )))

well, we're just lucky that the closest thing to pie here in the office is cinnamon gum in my desk drawer

I bookmarked your site Natalia. I want to learn Russian and my mom got me some cd's to teach myself. I'm thinking about taking a class at the local tech college too. I LOVE the way Russian sounds!

Oh, me, too!! I've wanted to study Russian for years now and will, one day before too much longer. I have an aunt and uncle that are fluent in Russian and I'm so incredibly jealous. Right now, I'm teaching Spanish to the kids (we homeschool) but once we get a couple of good, solid years of it under out belts, I think we might try diving into Russian if the kids are ready for it.
Once hubby kicks the bucket, I'm gonna pick me up a new man with an accent -- one from either Russia, Scotland, or maybe even Germany. Something about those particular accents just makes me melt... *drool*

Interesting site you have there Natalia - what do you think of the Rosetta Stone software? (Realizing that since it supports your site it's a conflict of interest, but you seem straightforward enough to give an honest opinion.) As one who seems to read Russian authors it'd be cool to read them in the original language.

I'm curious too - I've looked at Rosetta for Russian and been curious if it would also help me master Cyrillic alphabet or if I'd need another program for that. (same ? re: their Asian languages)
