I am SO jealous!! I would love to be there. Alas, I will be in Chemistry class all day thinking of you three.....my Spring Semester starts tomorrow. And, not to mention, I'm in Ohio! Darn!
You know, if I weren't planning on finishing up my Grad. applications tomorrow (Cass--I'm applying to UConn, it's my first choice!), I would totally take you up on that offer! Have fun ladies--I look forward to hearing all about it
If you need any help with the app, just let me know and I'll do what I can.
Good luck!
I'm applying to the English program (I'm an English Lit. major). My application arrived at UConn yesterday--I got a confirmation e-mail. I'm so nervous...it's a really competitive program to get into. I don't know if you kinesiology folks have much contact with the English department...but any leg-up I can get, I'd take Is kinesiology your major? I know you're studying nutrition specifically, but I'm not sure if that's a subset of the kinesiology major or not
I just love that that tracy is using an appropriate weight and is exhibiting perfect form. and the green shirt guy is lifting way too much weight for his current ability and has abyssmal form. who will achieve their goals first and in a non-injured state......
I have one questions, Julie. You labeled the one video "Tracy doing rack pulls". Why rack pulls instead of deadlifts. When I do my deadlifts, since I'm not using the big boy plates yet, I elevate my bar on the squat rack a little bit. They're still deadlifts, right? I guess I could move out of the squat rack and use the risers like Tracy demonstrates on the other videos. I am just wondering if there is a difference.
By the way, all of you show such great form! I hope everyone checks in to see!

Rack pulls are basically the second phase of deadlifting. Each phase is often referred to as "first pull" and "second pull". The first pull comes from the ground to your knees. Second pull is from the knees up. So, since she is starting with the bar at about her knees in the first video, they are called "rack pulls".
Here's a great video of Tina (tkinsley) doing rack pulls at 210 ...

Right ... measure the distance from the ground to the middle of the hole in the 45 plate. That is approximately where your bar should sit when using risers to get appropriate deadlift height.
