yes, we've had several reports of it (I think most are in the B&N thread - and the authors have noticed our posts (I forget if it was Lou or Cass or both) and they've reported it back to their editor/publisher etc.
I think most have found if you take it back to the store they will replace it - at least if it was through B&N. Mine was Amazon - and is cracking at pp 152-153 - but not so much that I cannot deal with it.
Mine has been creaking and making odd noises, got it from Amazon. I've seen a lot of people having problems with the Barnes and Nobel ones falling apart.
I hadn't heard that the problem went beyond books purchased from BN.com. Amazon will certainly replace defective copies. I believe Amazon has a cooperative arrangement with one or more retail chains, so if you contact Amazon customer service, they might be able to arrange for you to get a new copy at a store.
I've never heard of this happening to new books before, and I'm mystified about the causes.
I got mine at B & N also. I don't think I have the recipt anymore, hopefully they have a record of the purchase in their system.
(BTW Lou, Alwyn, and Cass great book. My wife is really up for trying this, especially after the changes she's seen in me from doing the NROL program. It took a while to get her away from the idea that she should "do the machines" because she's a woman.)
I'm kind of happy to see this post! I thought one of my kids got to the book or something. My binding is coming undone in several places, and I plan on using this book A LOT over the coming months--opening and closing and flipping from place to place. So I've been really worried about it.
For the record, I also got mine through Amazon. I suspect it's a defect with the binding glue or something used in the manufacturing process, which would mean the problem would occur with all books printed on that run, regardless of where they were then shipped for distribution.
I need one volunteer to mail a book with broken bindings to my editor, who'll overnight a new copy to the volunteer. I have to do a radio thing now, but I'll check back in a half-hour to collect the pertinent info.
I got mine from a local Books A Million, have read it through twice now, and is just starting to pull apart in a couple of places. I'll have to dig up my receipt in case it goes any further south.
Mine's not looking so hot. The pages aren't falling out yet, but there are a couple of places where it looks like they might soon. And the binding's coming loose in a few places. I'll be happy to volunteer...
Just went back and looked more specifically (if it matters). My worst spot is at pps. 44-45. I think I'm about to start losing pages from that section any time now. From 44 forward (44 to the front of the book) looks like I could pull the whole section out with almost no effort. Then it's broken again at 152-153, but not as badly. And when I was reading it stared to break toward the back, but I held it only partially opened so it wouldn't.
I thought it was just me, mine isn't really bad yet, but I seem to keep going back to review certain things and I am afraid it is going to get worse. I got mine from BN.
I'll be happy to relinquish mine, if LisaS and campingmom only have one copy. I've got two pretty good splits with some pages ready to let go. Plus, I finally received my Amazon copy yesterday (which seems tight), so I won't be without. It's up to you guys.

I did call B & N about this and they offered to send me a return label to return mine or I could walk into any store with my copy and the receipt to replace it. My friends can do the same. I'm going with the walking in the store route, because I don't want to do without.
I gave two copies to friends, and haven't heard anything about bindings breaking yet. But I have another copy (for myself) coming from amazon soon. Hopefully it's ok.

I read about this a few days ago and keep checking mine, but it seems fine. I ordered it from B & N and received it before the release date. It is weird that there are so many that are falling apart at the same places and then there are some that are fine.
