I've read the threads and the book, I apparently am also brain dead at the moment.
Is this right?
Day 1 Workout A (Monday) 2 sets 15 reps
Day 2 Workout B (Wednesday) 2 sets 15 reps
Day 3 Workout A (Friday) 2 sets 15 reps
Day 4 Workout B (Monday) 2 sets 15 reps
Day 5 Workout A (Wednesday) 2 sets 12 reps -up the weight?
Day 6 Workout B (Friday) 2 sets 12 reps
Day 7 Workout A (Monday) 2 sets 12 reps
Day 8 Workout B (Wednesday) 2 sets 12 reps
Day 9 Workout A (Friday) 3 sets or 10
so on... Is that what I am supposed to be doing? I just got my book and had to work all weekend. Trying to get started and not focusing well?
thanks to all
yes thats right, and in order to tire your muscles with a lower amount of repetitions you must increase the weight, so the lower the amount of reps, the heavier weight youll be using
I'm confused. You think that because you didn't know something and paid dearly (I'm assuming) for it that you should run away and hide from the people that can help you figure this stuff out?
Or is it just that you think you should already know all the ins and outs of something you've prolly never done before.
You could just stop being hard on yourself and laugh ruefully and move on...
Have a friend/SO get some epsom salts and soak in a hot tub. That will help ease the inflamation. Take some aleve to help manage the pain. Take a couple days and let your body recover. And I hate to even say this... but Tomorrow will be worse than today because it's the day after.

Thing is, when I worked out at the gym with a trainer, he worked me out just about as hard as what I did yesterday.
Maybe not as much, but very close to it.
My session would last an hour with him.
Many times I could barley walk up and down my stairs in my home after working out with him.
I thought this was normal because when I told him that I couldn't walk for 3 days and it was hard to do anything, he laughed and said I was feeling the burn.
I'm impressed - although I won't be envying you your doms.

I think there is a lot of confusion on how the workouts are supposed to .... work. I read through that page Saturday night and was also thoroughly lost. I remembered that someone else had asked about it (it's buried on page 2 of this forum) and found a response that cleared it up completely for me posted by Victoria.
That is TOOOOOOOOOO FUNNY !!!!! i'm not laughing at your misunderstanding! I'm laughing because I know the pain you are in ( REALLY , I KNOW THW PAIN!!!) !!!! When I got my original NROL book , I did break-in the same way... I have always worked out hard so I just thought man,, this is like a 3 hr work out & I was trying to figure out how , w/ all that rest time I was going to be able to get it all done & it seemed like everyone else was doing the w/o in like 45 min-1hr !!!!! What's bad is I did it that way for like a week !!!!!!!!! DUHHHHHHH I just didn't get it , then on day I got it & thought " I must be the only one on the planet that didn't read it right!!!!!!!!!!Anyhooooo Just lettin' ya know " i'm with ya sister !" So feel the burn now , From now you'll breeze through the work-outs in no time !!!
AFTERBURN
I personally think it's explained rather well in the book. However, I also think that it's not overly surprising that so many women are having this confusion. I think this is a case of people who know stuff almost inherently, not knowing how far back they need to explain to someone who's never been exposed to this sort of thing before.
I mean, I personally knew rather a lot before starting and still wasn't sure if I should count the bar weight in my weight that I lift. When I asked, people were literally "I never thought of that before, of course you count the weight, you're lifting it." Yet to me, I was thinking that #1, I didn't KNOW the weight of the bar, and #2 it wasn't what I was loading and it was a constant amount so...
Now I look back and think... well yah ya count it, yer liftin it... but then I honestly didn't know. My logs from then actually say "20 + bar" because I didn't know.
I think it's completely understandable if you understand what a "workout" versus an "exercise" versus a "set" versus a "rep" mean... but when someone doesn't know what even one of the words mean in context, it all just gets a bit confusing.
Oh man! today was my first workout and the first day on this site and I did the entire thing as well. I was thinking dang this takes like almost 2 hours to finish! I left very uncertain and wondering why I was doing pyramids sets, 15, 12, 10, 8 I did four sets of every exercise TWICE!!!!!
