And what if you're considered underweight, would the equation used in the formula used in the book be the most appropriate to use?

Thanks for your thougths.

Hi Victoria

In the paper, they use BMI to classify:

BMI Categories:

Underweight = <18.5
Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
Overweight = 25-29.9
Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

Here's a link to figure out your BMI: Calculate your BMI - Standard BMI Calculator

Hmm,

I'll look for an equation if there is an instance of underweight.

Do you know the BMI and age of this individual so that I can narrow my search?

According to this link, I fall into the "overweight" category (5'6", 160lbs=25.8 BMI). In this case, would you recommend another formula then, besides what's in the book?

Thanks, Cass!!!

"Robertson and Reid BSA (m2) x 24 x age-specific value "

Maybe I missed it somewhere, but what would the age specific value be for someone who was 23?
