Default Making the Cut vs NROLW

HI I have both books.
Anyone else have both.
I have not yet started either plan, but have been working out for 5 years and ready to step it up!
ANyone have any advice or experience with both plans?
Do they compare at all?
I have not read all of NROLW yet but have gotten thru JIllians Making the Cut.

Thanks
Shari

I did Making the Cut in December. I've just started NROL4W. Not much basis for comparison, but here are my thoughts (FWIW):

The programs have quite a bit in common -- with compound exercises that work more than one muscle group and that work them in a functional way. You don't get the MTC circuit-training cardio benefit as much from NROL4W (but that's also not the focus, as you'll see when you read the book). My guess is that you will find yourself building stronger muscle with NROL4W, and getting in better cardio shape with MTC. After the average MTC workout, I was wasted. Michaels' suggestion that you do cardio after that workout? Ha! In. Your. Dreams. After the first NROL4W workouts, my muscles were tired, but I didn't feel like I was about to die. Not in the same way.

BUT... don't be fooled by how comparatively easy the NROL4W workouts look. After MTC, I was really cocky walking into the gym for the first NROL4W workout, thinking "Piece. Of. Cake." And all I can say after the first two workouts is Holy DOMS, Batman!!! I seriously thought I was in really good shape. I didn't know I could still hurt this much.

I don't know what to recommend you -- I know that I took off 14 lbs and a whole lot of inches in 30 days on MTC. And that's being in good shape but having probably about 20 lbs I didn't need. I can see myself going back and forth between the two programs -- I'm loving circuit training and I get bored with long drawn-out cardio stuff, so both of these programs are really great for my personality.

Nutrition-wise, I think it's a tossup.

THanks for the reply!

I guess with the MTK i had a hard time laying it all out to remember it. It think I would need to take my book and flip thru it the whole time.
DID You just get used to it?
How did u rem the whole circuit.
I have not looked at all the NROL yet , but i Hope its easier as far as getting started and knowing what to do.

I make a spreadsheet of the entire program. In this case Stage 1. It consists of 2 separate workouts (A and B) And each workout is done 8 times. So, I did 2 spreadsheets -- one for each workout. It lists all the workouts, sets, reps, etc. I take it to the gym with me and write down all my exercises and then I know next time what I did the time before and what I want to try now. Without some sort of way to track each workout, there is no way I could do it.

Isn't MTC a "quick weight loss" program? Something you do before a special event for 30 days?
NROL4W is a 6 month program with a focus on building muscle mass and making the body better at burning fat. It is effective but by no means a "fast results" type program.
