Default Hyper I & Kettlebells/Sandbags

I am moving onto my second week of Hyper I and have already noticed a difference in size and strength. This is a great program for a life long endurance geek who does not have a background in the weight room. My question is how and when to add kettlebell and sandbag work into my weekly routine. I started using both over the summer to complement my running and cycling and really enjoy using them. Will using a kettlebell or sandbag on 1-2 of my off days mess up Hyper I? Currently doing Hyper I on M,W,F and doing the workouts in ABA order the first week and BAB the second week.

I would be inclined to say that it will probably effect your recovery, so yes, it might change your progress in HYP1.

If it makes any difference, I have cut out pretty much all of my cardio work while doing Hyper I other than the occasional half hour run with one of my kids or a short, easy ride on my bike to stretch out my legs. Any thoughts on doing kettlebell work on the weekend as sort of a strength/cardio workout?

If you're focused on HYP1, I would make the kettlebell work more cardio rather than strength. You should focus on one main thing. That being said, kettles can be great for cardio, but just make sure it's cardio and not "heavy lifting," for lack of a better term. Get what I'm saying?

In general, it's cool, but "kettlebells and sandbags" is pretty non-specific. If you're doing high rep stuff instead of cardio, it should be fine. Make sure you are monitoring your weight to make sure you're growing, even with the extra work.

I enjoy doing sandbag complexes and kettlebell complexes and I have not done either since starting Hyper I. The other kettlebell work was generally conditioning drills that also involved bodyweight. Typical workout might be 10 pushups, 5 pullups, 20 kettlebell swings and see how many rounds I could go.

If I am doing Hyper I should I stick to only what is in the book or can I add a day of conditioning drills without affecting my progress?

As long as you're eating to gain some muscle, it shouldn't be much of a problem.
