Default 2 workouts a week?

Hey folks!

Bear with me on this, since I haven't been able to pry the NROL book out of my hubby's hands. That is a GOOD thing! We started working out together last week, I am doing NROLFW. He mentioned to me this morning that he's only supposed to work out twice a week in the break-in phase. He's a beginner but not a "complete" beginner, he's been lifting without an actual program for about 6 months and has lifted off & on his whole life.

Now, like I said, I haven't been able to get the book for long enough to read it but would it be a BAD thing if he worked out all three days like I am? I don't think he's interested in HIIT at all.

There's nothing inherently wrong with doing B-I 3x a week if he wants to. In my opinion, the prescriptions in NROL for the model lifters are pretty much examples to illustrate how to be flexible and vary the program(s).

plus, it bumps up to 3/week after a bit anyway… unless you follow the "man of constant obligation" which is to show you that you can keep up a routine even if you "have no time to work out"

cool... good to know. Yeah our workout time (individually) has been precious to us in the past and now that we're doing it together it's kind of cool, considering how busy we are with kids, me working, him in school, etc. We don't get much time together and working out together gives us that much more time. It would be a shame if he didn't come for all of them

If the break in routine just absolutely kicks his but for multiple days (like, EVERY exercise is new and is causing massive soreness), then twice a week may be necessary. But otherwise, 3x a week should be fine.
