Default Strength 1 program too much?

I have a question about the NROL Strength I program.
It incorporates wave loading, so you're hitting a 1RM for 2 sets. There is 4 workouts a week(it's an upper/lower split). So one day, you're hitting a 1RM with squats, and the other lower day you're doing a 1RM for deadlifts.
Is doing really heavy/intense wave loading twice a week detrimental? Is it too taxing on the CNS? I just don't want to overtrain, but I do enjoy doing the 4 workouts per week.
If it would be too much to be doing 2 wave loading days like that, should I just do 1 and then switch to a more hypertrophy based workout for the other day?
Has anyone else done this program and had success and felt okay? Just want some input!

Are you eating at a deficit? If so, how much?
Your eating and rest will figure heavily into whether it's gonna end up too much for you, but by it's nature it doesn't have to be.

My husband did all of the STR phases, prolly even in a deficit, and was mostly fine. The days that were tough were related to sleep and stress levels.

AFAIK, you are doing heavy for 1 rep - but it isn't a 1RM attempt
missjane just finished S1 I think - you could check her log for how she did it but many people here have done it as written without overtraining or anything.

Yeah, I did SI and SII and loved them both. As far as the wave loading, for the 1 rep sets, I did go for 1RM most times. If you look thru my log you will see lots of PR's during both Strength programs. I took a break to do some metabolic type training for the last few weeks, but plan to do SIII, as well.

Oh, and you don't have to do 4 workouts a week. You can do 2, 3, or 4...whichever works best for you. I did 3 or 4, depending on the week.
