Default Tips for me to avoid bonking on deficit during FLI

I did the break in with a 500 cal deficit, life was good.

Because I need to lose so much weight I went to a 1000 cal deficit during my weak off. I need to lose around 40 lbs.

Started FLI, workout A Sunday with HIIT after. The next day, Monday, I was VERY hungry which I ignored.

Maybe related, I developed a very bad headache which lasted through most of the night.

Tuesday I was fine.

Today I discovered bonking. Could not finish pull downs or BSS. The wierdest part was I could not even grip the bar, my grip was totally gone.

So ... to avoid bonking would something like an EC stack help? Pre-workout I had the same amount of food I always have pre-workout, about 800 cals.

Any diet whose deficit is so severe as to cause a 'bonk' during a weight training workout is a diet designed to fail. You're not even close to the point where your performance should be suffering during workouts. A few suggestions:

1. If you're surviving off sub-optimal sleep, I'd make this priority number one. Sleep is your greatest weapon in your pursuit of an ideal physique.

2. Adequate carbs. You should be getting ~ .75 - 1g/lb of body weight in carbohydrate around your workout, with a hefty dosing of protein (~.75g/lb of body weight). Split this amount pre, during (if you're bonking), and post.

3. How's your time being spent out of the gym? You may be able to incorporate some additional periods of relaxation that could facilitate recovery.

Hope that helps.

So what you're saying is a 1000 cal deficit wouldn't cause this kind of thing to happen, I should look elsewhere?

Chances are that you at a 1000 calorie deficit won't cause this in and of itself.
If you were a tiny girl who was eating 1000 deficit for a total of 500 total calories per day that is quite different than a big guy who is eating 2000 instead of 3000.

I suffered the same thing last night and couldn't finish the workout. I think I'm going to switch working out from late at night to early mornings and see if that helps.
