Default New to NROL

Hey all, I just purchased NROL online and am "patiently" waiting for it to arrive and to see what its all about. For those of you who are already doing the workouts, I was wondering what is needed equipment wise to complete the workouts. I only have a flat bench and dumbbells that go up to 45lbs each. Will that be adequate?
Thanks in advance!!

To do the programs as written you'll really need a bar, weight plates, a squat rack/powercage/SomethingToLetY ouLoadTheBar and a way to do pull ups in lieu of lat pulldowns.

For squats and deadlifts, 45#x2 db will quickly be grown out of (and you can't really deadlift with dbs).

That's not to say you couldn't build a program around the DBs that you have and get good workouts, but I don't think you can really do NROL with just that equipment.

Thanks for the reply! I won't have access to a gym until August so I guess I'll just have to do the best I can with what I got.

Squat rack, bench, oly bar, and a 300 lb set to start with. Investing in 2 additional 45 lb plates would be a good idea eventually. A step up box will come in handy (although you will curse yourself for getting one)

For Dumbbells, check out Power Blocks.

There are a lot of great body weight programs out there. You can find one by Alywn Cosgrove right here http://www.alwyncosgrove.com/bodyisabarbell.html. It may help you to break in while you wait to get access to a gym.

Thanks Adrian! Considering my present conditioning level, I think that body weight program will be a great way to start out.

I love the book - but the one thing that did disappoint me is that it is written really exclusively around performing workouts at a gym. There seems to be zero consideration given to anyone doing workouts elsewhere.

For a book that has someone doing a lunge with dumbbells...

Well, you get my point.

I just wish there were some programs in there written around home workouts... Like with powerblocks as mentioned above. Heck they can go up to 135# per pair.
