Default Confused By My Results

I just finished Fat Loss I.

I gained an inch in each calf and in my upper arms while losing 1 1/2" in my thighs, 2" in the waist and one in the chest.

Meanwhile, i gained three pounds!

Anyone have the same results?

Any theories? Or better yet anyone know what happenned?

I've been improving my eating habits. I am not particularly following any plan. Just eating at regular intervals, watching my portions cutting back or out fast food, cutting back pop. Trying to cut back on my fat intake.

So, in other words, you have no idea if you were eating over, at, or under maintenance. If your weight went up, you were likely eating too much. This happens a lot, especially with rather intense workouts like those in FL1, makes a body hungry, and without actually tracking you have no idea how much you're eating.

You may want to start weighing your food and see what you've been eating, and then you can go from there… you'll know how much you'll need to start cutting out to see weightloss results (assuming that's what you're going for). Otherwise, you're only really guessing… and for some people, that doesn't work w/r/t getting the results they want.

Welcome.

Well ... if you're a lot overweight like me ... loosing those inches is probably a good thing. My theory would be that the gained muscle in calves and arms weighs about the same as the fat you lost with the increase just being water.

Disclaimer: I have no idea what I'm talking about but you asked for theories.

As an aside, I'm hoping I can accomplish my goals without having to resort to calorie counting. I really don't want to do that.

Lisa! Thank You for that! Sometimes its easy to lose sight of the real goal- a better life! Weight loss really is just a byproduct of the exercizing. It is called a fat loss program and not a weight loss program.

And yes I have been very happy with the results! I feel way better than I have since I joined the gym. (Seems my body does not like endurance training.) And visually I am seeing great improvements!

Thanks!

Weight loss and/or fat loss are both by products of diet. You can execise til the cows come home, but if you are eating junk you will not make the kind of progress in the gym that you are hoping for. Eating at a deficit but getting adequate protein will encourage fat loss while not losing muscle. Eating at a surplus will encourage mass gain.
