Default Bonking

Ok need some help guys. I am bonking at the end of my workouts. I work out early in the morning so I don't have time to eat and wait. I need to get up get in and get it done. Any tips on how to boost my energy to make it to the end of a work out?

Half a shake? Small cup of coffee? Nothing solid.

Per Cosgrove himself, get up 5 min earlier, glass of milk and a banana.

Ditto. Have to get some carbs and protein in you about a half hour before you hit the weights. Think light and quick. Yogurt, cheese stick, banana, apple, protein bar, oatmeal. I like to grab a quick cup of coffee but I know others where that irritates the stomach. Cold glass of water also gets things fired up inside.

I workout first thing in the morning too...my pre-workout shake looks like:

1.5 scoops protein powder
1 banana
40g Quaker rolled oats (not instant...the slow-cook kind)
10oz water

Approx: 42g Protein, 60g Carb, and 5g Fat = 450 calories

Just throw it all in a blender and whip it up good. I usually do it the night before and then throw it in the fridge so the oats get mushy overnight.

EDIT: Just drink it as soon as you get up...by the time you get to the gym, warm-up, and hit the weights...the protein and carbs from the banana will be available for energy. Carbs from the oats will be available for the later stages of your workout.

I've had good luck just drinking my protein shake when I wake up and then head to the gym.

Having hard boiled eggs ready to go the night before might be helpful.

a serving of fat free cottage cheese with some Fiber-one cereal mushed in it ...I eat it in the car on the way to the gym and I am good to work out from 6am-8am.

I usually just get a little caffeine (1/2 Speed Stack) and then cold water for my morning workouts. It helps that the gym is pretty much across the street so I'm up and 5 minutes later I'm standing in the gym.

I don't know how you others crank down entire protein shakes pre-workout that soon before you hit the weights. I would never keep it down.
