Default Break in, A and B

I guess I missed this in the book. Maybe that's easy to do - a lot of words sometimes!

But I see the break-in program has an A and a B workout. And the recommendation is 2 per week.

I saw someone else here say they did A/off/B/off/off/off/off

Is that what the author is suggesting? Yesterday I did A and B! I'm sore and glad to take the day off, for sure, but I also want to lift M-W-F. I'm happy to do the breakin for 4 weeks, so am wondering how the M-W-F schedule would work with A-B-A week followed by a B-A-B week?

And I'll reread these sections, but it looks like the A/B theme repeats, so am wondering if these are always supposed to be done on separate lifting days and separated by a day? I got used to upper/lower/rest day/upper/lower/rest weekend.

For the most part, these are full body workouts so the upper/lower scheme giving you the extra rest on the other working day does not apply as much.

If A B rest A B rest rest works for you, it will be fine, if not, switch to a MWF scheme. or A B rest A rest B rest perhaps.

You can workout 2,3 or 4 times a week as I recall, but he doesn't want you to do more than 2 in a row.

If there is an A/B scheme, then yes, you alternate A & B in your workouts - so if 3x a week, ABA followed by a BAB week is correct.

as far as break-in goes - do what feels right to you. If you want to lift 3-4 times a week because you're used to being in the gym and lifting with compound lifts there's nothing wrong with that. Just lift heavy enough on the high rep sets so that you really are getting a workout.

Thanks Lisa. I think I'll give the MWF, ABA then BAB a try. But this week maybe skip Wednesday! Doing both A and B yesterday, I am walking like a cowboy today.

nice looking dog in your avi.

You're welcome. That's Caleb in the avi.
I wondered what the effects of A & B might be - cowboy-walking - I like that.

I did A-B-A and B-A-B working out Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. It worked for me.
