Default FL III or Hypertrophy I

I have just completed FL II. I have lost 13.5 lbs using NROL and eating healthier and less. I cannot decide which road to take. I want to build some muscle but at the same time I would like to reach my goal weight of 140-145. So, I need to lose about 10 more lbs. What should I do?

I would say go with Hypertrophy and gain a little more muscle and use that muscle to fuel your metabolism even more, and at the same time tone up your frame a little more.

Answer: Prioritize your goals.

Whichever is more important right now, pursue it with dogged determination, and when accomplished, set your next goal, and repeat.

IMO, it sounds like the additional 10 lbs is a higher priority, but I may be wrong. Go with FLIII - you've got momentum on your side and your goal is in site.

One other thing: is this your first experience with lifting? If so, you are building muscle and losing weight simultaneously.

Here is a little background: I took a year off from running (injury), instructing fitness classes (burn out), and we moved during that time. I gained a lot of weight. Food has always been the problem. I would exercise a lot so I could eat whatever I wanted. I am trying to get in control ( with the help of a nutritionist) of my food. I have always worked out but have not been consistent with weight training( the most I have lasted is 3 months and then I get bored). I have gone through FL I & II and love the results. I lost 3.5in off my waist in 6 weeks! I would like to reach my goal weight but ultimately I just want to look good in a swimsuit again. I am one that "carries her weight well". No one ever believes me when I tell them how much I weigh. I guess that is a blessing? I am 5'7 1/2" and at the moment weigh 152. I am not obsessive about the numbers on the scale. What I really would like is to look like I am supposed to be in Oxygen Magazine! I am a mother of four and would like my body to still turn heads. So now, I am back to trying to decide if I should go with FL III or Hypertrophy I. Is there anything else I can tell you all to help in making my decision? Thanks for the replies so far!

You are not going to be able to build muscle unless your taking in more calories than you're burning. Even though you're not obsessed with the scale, I'm guessing you would hate to see the number rise instead of fall, even if it's all lean weight you're gaining.

I'm even more convinced you should do FLIII. When you shed another 7-12 pounds, you'll have the appearance of having more muscle (i.e. more definition).

Good luck.
