Default Two-Point Dumbbell row with elbow out----ouch!

So I was doing this yesterday with a 30 pound dumbbell. I could of done more but since im just starting off I'm going more for form rather then weight.
I was doing fine and my second last rep I had a sharp pain in my lower back. I was confused because watching in the mirror I never seen nor did I feel and movement. The Weight I using I could of went for another 10 reps so it wasn't exhausting my muscles.

Any ideas of what went wrong? Today it hurts if I bend my back without bending my knee's to bend down. Not intensely but I can feel it. It doesn't hurt to walk or anything else. Do you think it's safe to work out tomorrow?

I don't think anyone here is going to tell you if it's ok or not to work out tomorrow. Only a doctor could tell you for sure. If it's not crippling you, like it doesn't sound it is, I would give it a couple days and see how it feels. You don't want to mess around when it comes to your back.

It probably had some thing to do with your posture.

well I made sure I was positioned just like the guy in the book. My back was flat and I had my hand on my back.

Probably just pulled a muscle, but if it does not get better after a couple of days I would go see a Dr.

I just read the book and really enjoyed but when I saw that picture and the way the guy was postured doing the row I thought "that's just an invite for a back injury"

The guy needs to be shown having his knees bent more so his body weight and the d.b isn't all being supported by the lower back. Sucks you hurt your back. I've hurt mine a couple of times lifting heavy and not using good form. taking it easy for a few days is the best thing you can do
