Default Heels Raised 1&1/4 Squat

First, these are just horrible.

Second, I wonder why the heels raised? I've read to NOT raise the heels in other publications. So I wonder why the heels are up and what purpose does it serve?

I have realized the hardest part of the whole movement is the extra quarter.. whew...

Exactly. I did these with my feet flat, and they were thoroughly punishing.
