Default HT1 W/G lat pulldowns

Hi all, I'm currently on my last week and a half of FL2 and looking forward to starting the Hypertrophy programs. Just wondering if anyone sees an issue or has thoughts with doing w/g pullups (band-assisted when needed due to rep protocal) versus w/g pulldowns as outlined in the book in HT1.

Why can't you do pulldowns? You would have been doing some form of pulldown in the FL series.

It's not that I CAN'T do them. I can, and have the equipment at home to do them. I guess I would just like to improve my pullup/chinup capabilities. I have loved doing the chins in FL2 and that's why I asked if that would be an appropriate replacement to go with pullups vs. pulldowns once I hit HT1.

IMHO, if you can do the prescribed number of reps, pullups are always a better choice than pulldowns.

I think its buried in the book somewhere that if you can do the required reps, to do the pullups rather than pulldowns. I know I've read other places that band assisted versions are really awesome because they still challenge the stabilizing muscles that you need for pullups and chins.

Alright, if it's simply a matter of preference, then yes, go ahead and do the pull-ups.

I figured it would be okay in this instance to replace it with pullups. Up until now I have done everything as prescribed in the book so I wanted to get some input before changing. Thanks!
The 30 sec. rest periods in FL2 are crushing me but I like the results I've gotten in the program so far. I'm really looking forward to HT1!

I would do the pullups if the reps are about the same. I do the same thing, when it called for the close-grip pulldowns, I sub close-grip pullups. I wasn't able to get the same number of reps in, so I did one for set at the end and then the next time I do it I will do the pulldowns. It can't hurt to switch them up, but the pulldowns will help you do more pullups.
