Default Rest week?

Hi all! I apologize if this has been covered before, but my search didn't bring up this specific question.

I have a quick question about our rest weeks in between workout programs. I am going to finish up my Hypertrophy 1 workout on April 4th, and I am suppose to take a full week of rest. On the other hand, I am taking a week of vacation on April 28th, and I am not planning on lifting a single weight. I am going to spend that week just sitting by the beach and indulging myself with drinks, my wife, and good food.

Question: how important is it to take those weeks off in between workouts? I would like to jump right into hypertrophy 2 and get 3 good weeks of gym work before my vacation. I would still get my week off, just not at the particular time listed in the book. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

That's fine. Schedule the rest weeks to fit your schedule. We all have real lift to work around! It's the principle that counts. Your body needs breaks to acclimate to the changes you're asking of it.

Awesome! Thanks for the feedback Lisa. That's what I was hoping to hear. Part of me doesn't want to take more weeks off than I have to. The other part of me is just excited to move on to the next workout and doesn't have the patience to wait

i'll tell ya exactly what i'd do...i'd use hyper 1 for 7 weeks total, then take that next week off. the programs are just basic designs and suggestions; it's not like your body is gona self destruct if you go one week over the planned 6 weeks. I say just go for the 7th week, and go HARD, and then, since it sounds obvious you plan on taking the following week totally off, take it totally off and come back fresh. Personally I think all the programs short of MAYBE the strength programs can go on for much longer than suggested without fear of overdoing it. that's just me though

Yeah I do not see a problem in going all out for two weeks straight. Have fun on your trip!
