Default NROL = overtraining?

im just wondering, why isn't this overtraining?

take H-1 for example. ur doing 5x5 for 6 exercises. thats 30 sets of 5 reps will is really taking on ur body and lets just say u workout 4x a week. then u have 15 sets for chest and 15 for back in the first and then 9 for chest and 9 for back in 2nd A workout. thats 24 intense sets for chest and back each, all in one week. for legs it would probably be more. so isn't that too much volume especially with all tough compound exercises?

Overtraining is perhaps exaggerated. Overtraining does not occur instantly. It happens over months and is more a lack of recovery time than an excess of work.

Even on 4x/wk, you should be getting about 72 hours recovery time between similar workouts.

HYPI is an A/B program, so the above is valid. If doing it 3x/wk, you actually give 96 hours of recovery time.

And for HYPII, Lou says, you're encouraged to do it 3x/wk, not 4x.

Thumbs up yep...

I'm with Cynic. Overtraining doens't happen in a week or two. That's the reason that the one or two weeks rests are built between each routine. It's also the reason that you don't repeat a routine. Different muscles get worked and the same muscles get worked differently as each routine changes. Rest before you move on. No overtraining here. Push hard w/o fear.

You'll know overtraining when it happens, apathy about your workouts, lack of progress, injury, tiredness, lack of appetite, getting sick more often...all those are symptoms of overtraining. I don't expect you'll ever see those in the NROL program.

yea i guess i wasn't thinking about the fact that u take a week off after every routine. i know overtraining doesnt happen that quickly, it just seems like a lot of sets and i was thinking more in the period of a few months. thanks guys, so u suggest taking a week off after each different routine? lol i guess that is what the book says

alright i will. im a little unsure as to exactly what im going to be doing after h-1 because my bf% is at 14 and i dont like to go over 15%. so depending on how much fat i put on during H-1 i may either go to H-2 or switch to FL-1.

this coming up week is my week off (and coincidently my spring break) so after that i'll do 2 weeks of the break in and then start H-1.
